My DH just convinced me to upgrade our Sept trip from CSR, where we stayed last year and were very happy, to the Poly.

Please convince me this is the right thing to do. It's not that the Poly doesn't appeal to me. But is it that much nicer of a resort than the moderates? Part of me is having such a hard time accepting spending $1700 more just for a place to sleep!

Tell me anything you can to convince me this was a good choice!

just look at the beautiful pictures posted here.....if that doesn't convince you nothing will.

In addition to it's beauty, there is also the luxury of having the MK monorail right outside the lobby door, and the Epcot monorail a short walk away. A definite perk. Plus you have the boat to the MK if you like. Add the beautiful beach and pool, plus the good food, and you have a fantastic resort to enjoy.

Well, I can't convince you.. In Mar 2006, we stayed for 5 days at POR.. 1st time on property- loved it... We decided to stay an extra 3 days- and we decided to splurge and book The Poly ( always wanted to stay there).. It was awful- service, front desk. We had a broken phone for the entire time, The front desk was rude, the bellhops lost our stuff.. It was such a mistake. I liked the rooms at POR much better- didnt have to beg for a refrigerator even though it was promised... We felt very ripped off...
This summer though, we stayed at the Beach Club and loved it. What I thought the Poly would be... Next Dec, we are doing GF and AKL.. I'm worried that I am going to be bummed at the GF's hype like the Poly but it is best for those days since Dh is doing a conference there.

We are true blue Wilderness Lodge fans, but have stayed at the Polynesian three times now and love it! The first time was this past September, then again this past December, and finally last weekend. Every CM we have come in contact with was super friendly and helpful, and the resort itself is beautiful. The rooms are some of the largest on property, and we love having the couch in the room. The refrigerator is located in the cabinet between the two closets, and there is a nice sized safe (a laptop easily fits into it) in one of the closets.

On top of that, there is the added convenience of the monorails, plus the chance to watch Wishes from the beach. (And having Dole Whips available from morning to midnight at Captain Cooks is a huge bonus for us!)

My DH are having this same conversation. I want to stay at the CSR and he wants to stay at the Poly. We are staying for ten nights, so the difference in $$ is fairly large.

We have stayed at the Poly, with a discount, before and it is truly lovely. My kids loved it and wanted to return this year too, so temporarily, I have gave in (bummer! LOL!). The monorail is nice (I prefer the boat launch), we love Kona and O'Hanas and it is nice to be able to watch fireworks from the beach and look across the lake at the Contemporary and the GF. I just feel like I am in the middle of the action at the Poly.

Yet, I still have that feeling that is is just sssoooo expensive. CSR looks really nice too......Decisions, decisions.

Ahhhhh, the thought of Wishes from the Poly Resort - Priceless. We did not just sleep there, we enjoyed all that it had to offer. The kids loved the pool and the time that they could be at the MK. It truly was priceless. The food offered and the variety is wonderful. I can not say enough about it. Check out the new Poly 2008 thread. The pics alone will sway you. The food will also give you hunger pangs. Good luck. We cannot wait to go back. We are still in the dreaming stage with nothing concrete yet.

Love, love, love the Poly, for all the reasons others have posted. We've stayed at POR back when it was Dixie Landings, and it's a very nice resort. However, the Poly has a much different feel, and being close to the MK and Epcot Monorail lines is really a bonus.

I think this is very important; if you truly will only use your resort to shower and sleep, and if you don't have any mobility issues (for example, I have several health issues which hamper my ability to walk distances, so the Polynesian is excellent for me), then I think maybe staying there wouldn't be the right resort-fit for you, and you may end up feeling that the extra money was not well-spent.

However, if you feel like the above poster does, and you'll make full use of all that the Polynesian has to offer, then I think you should go for it. :thumbsup2

Like mickey2minnie1 mentioned, come on over and check out the Polynesian FAQ thread; it'll give you a good feel for the resort, and hopefull will help you with your decision.

The title of your thread is "Talk me into the Polynesian"... believe me, I CAN do that! :sunny: :rolleyes1 :cool2:

I hope you have a great trip, wherever you end up staying! :)

This is also true. I was originally booked for POFQ, which I was very excited about. My DH made some extra money in overtime, and I was offered the chance to upgrade. I wasn't too knowledgeable about the Poly. Seaspray provided me with everything I ever wanted to know, and because of what I learned, I knew it was right for us. She rocks, and we had the vacation of a lifetime! :woohoo:
