I'm thinking I'm going through Polynesian withdrawl. We were supposed to stay there last month, but I ended up switching to Wilderness Lodge. We stayed there a few years ago, and really enjoyed the resort. The island theme is so relaxing, the location is perfect, and I just love the tiki torches at night! LOL

Now, I do have a few choices as far as rooms go. We could go with the basic 'Garden View' room, at $344 a night. We could also get a regular 'Lagoon View' room at $430 a night. Or, we could go for the 'Concierge Garden View' room at $440 a night for a little extra service. Our other option is the all out 'Concierge Lagoon View' room for the best of both worlds. Now, of course, I really don't want to book anything until Passholder rates come out ;) but what should I book? Last year, Garden View Concierge was $295 per night, Lagoon View Concierge was $365 a night - with those prices, I'd probably have to give the nod to GVC. But, it sure would be nice to have the LVC like we did the last time. Hawaii has such nice lagoon view rooms!

Or, should I stick with my 'love' and stay at the Grand Floridian?

So, Polynesian lovers (Tikiman!), please help me out! ;) Any recent photos? Thanks! ;)

I feel your pain!:( I have GVC booked with a AAA discount for $325 plus tax. I don't know if I can justify an additional $75/night for Lagoon view. I am hoping for an AP rate comparable to last years $325 tax included for LVC.

$325 LVC?? Woo hoo! That'd be nice! We're paying $365 for regular lagoon view with AAA discount, for Sept. At this point, with no codes, it'd be another $80 to move up to lagoon concierge. We really don't want garden view, even with concierge, so we'll either keep our regular lagoon view, OR go to LVC if a discount comes out.

I'm sure whatever you choose to stay, it will be Magical. That being said, I can tell you we recently stayed Poly LV concierge and it was awesome. We get up in the morning and look directly at the castle, something about that just totally relaxes me and I feel like a kid again. The view at night ,again incredible, the castle changing colors, the fireworks exploding over it...need I go on.
The Tiki torches lit around the grounds .....How can anyone not fall victim to the enchantment of this amazing place? The CM's were all just fantastic to us all the time. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect vacation had I scripted it myself. The best part of everything wasn't the fact that I enjoy everything, it is the fact I was able to share this with my family!
There is so much more I could say and not one word would be negative. Hopefully you will have a Magical stay ..........Enjoy!

Cali....I'm going thru TOTAL WDW WITHDRAWAL!!!!!

Know what you mean about that Poly though,
the concierge there is wonderful!
The atmosphere is sooo tripical, soothing, removed from the hussle and bussle of the parks, the FWs & EWP, the Hawaiin music that's piped in all around the resort, the tiki torches.......aaaaaahhh!
One of my favorites!

Now....dang it!
You gotta stop doing this to me, Cali! ;)

you'll have me back on that darn phone, trying to change my ressies AGAIN!!!!!!:hyper:

Except it would take a Miracle to get an AP rate for the week we're going!::yes::

Well Cali, I will be the one to say it, stick to the GF! We are at the Poly now and my children keep asking, why aren't we at the GF. The poly is nice and I now alot of people love it here, but it isn't the GF.

You want to stay, at the Poly, cause you haven't been there in quite a while.;) I don't remember you staying there since the volcano pool? have you? SOOOO you will want to! Of course the concerige building as well as many other building have just been rehabed! So it has just be polished up for all of us poly lovers.:D I really don't think there is a bad view in the whole place. Of course, LVC would be the supreme but GVC has a wonderful view of the quite pool. LV rooms have great views of the lagoon, and GV rooms have varied views all lovely, from monorail, to partial lagoon, to boat marina, to gardens, pools, polynesian foliage, some with the parking lot in the distance (your own auto show at a distance, but good parking and availabity to your car if you need it.).

Must add a warning I have read that the concerige is now NOT offering bottled water, you should feel right at home, being used to the royal palm concerige with large bottles of glassed water. This could be a plus for you. ;) However, you can still get pop. :) ( pardon me, northeast Illinois term for soda). ::yes::

Remember of course, the GF is within walking distance of the poly in case you get homesick. Or desparately need to eat at narcoosee's. .

Just kidding, MKY princess:

Cali--there's nothing like the Polynesian concierge, waterview. I say if you can work it into your budget, go for it.

No problem with the bottled water, we never took them to the parks with us - but, if we do want to take a bottle of water with us, we could also save 1 plastic bottle and take water from a glass bottle and fill it up. Do they let you take the entire bottle? :) And, that's right mky, we have not stayed at the Polynesian since the volcano pool was put in (btw, I call it "pop" as well). ;)

This is killing me trying to decide! One minute I want the Polynesian, the next I'm talking myself back into the Grand Floridian! LOL

CD,

Obviously the decision is going to be a tough one, but it is one we wish we were all struggling with. Whatever your choice is this time, make the other resort your choice for your following visit.
Well have FUN planning and enjoy your vacation.

Oh yeah, if you ask for a bottle of water they will give it to the guests in the concierge lounge(Hawaii).

I am a HUGE GF fan! That said, we loved our stay at the Poly GVC in 2001. I was completely satisfied with relaxing in the concierge lounge with the HUGE beautiful windows facing the castle and did not feel the need for my room to be a lagoon view.

If we do choose to stay at the Polynesian (most likely we will), and if I need to choose between Lagoon View and Concierge Garden View, which one should I choose? I really want a balcony, and if I do book a lagoon view, I would really like a perfect castle view! We stayed at the Polynesian once before, Concierge Lagoon View on the third floor. Really liked the location of Hawaii.

Third floor, LV, Hawaii.....there's your answer.

Cali....it'll be great!::yes::

Definitely go for the GVC! No doubt! ::yes:: You'll be in heaven with all the pampering and you can easily see the lagoon anytime you want from the lounge or out on the beach. We never spend much time on our balcony anyway, so that's what I would do. :)

Now you've got me wanting the Poly. :hyper: I don't have a clue where we're staying on this next trip until some codes come out. IF they come out. But the Poly is high on my list. DS wants the GF though, and DH wants an epcot resort. LOL So we'll probably end up at the WL concierge again. ;)
