I was talking to my DS10 yesterday about what his favorite places to eat at WDW.

His response was very specific about what he doesn't like and surprisingly it had nothing to do with food!

He said, "I know I don't like that restaurant with the robotic guy talking, it freaks me out!" Okay, so it was later in the evening and my brain wasn't at full speed and it took me a second to decipher the message.

Finally I figured it out (did you?): Cosmic Rays!

Now mind you, he was there last when he was 8 and both times we attempted to eat there he was very against it because of the 'entertainment' provided on the stage. Talk about PTSD via an animatronic!:rotfl:

That is so funny. I am always amazed that what sticks out in children's minds is so different from what adults tend to find significant.

Too funny, I don't think I would have figured it out! Great conversation!

Childhood fear of a creepy animatronic figure! One more reason to bring back Michael Iceberg!!:hippie:

We were making our list of "must do's" for our august trip a few nights ago and our DD said the only thing she HAD to do again was "see that monster play the piano" ....you guessed it! Cosmic Rays=) :lmao:

Funny! I didn't realize he made that big an impression on kids. My GD loved him too and remembered him from one trip to the next and had to see him. I thought she was just a little odd.:rotfl:

When I took her for her first trip, I took her and her dad to see Cirque. I wasn't really sure either would like it, but both loved it. She was about 7-8 y/o at the time. I've never seen that child sit almost motionless for 2 hours. lol When we got back, her GF picked us up at the airport and on the way home asked her about the trip. When he asked what her favorite things at WDW were, without hesitation she said the 'tram that takes you from the small airport into the big airport, riding in the front of the monorail to Epcot, and the Cirque show'. lol I assumed she would have said the rides in MK or the character meals.

I love Sonny Eclipse! The last couple times we ate at Cosmic Ray's, Sonny was "on break" apparently. Very dissapointed. But I could see how Sonny could annoy, scare or frighten an 8 year old.
