Taking your personal items on the rides

We are coming in September and will be bringing a bag/backpack with sunscreen, diapers, snacks, bottled water, etc. I don't really feel safe leaving items in our stroller. Is it easy to take your personal items on the rides? It seems like some of them wouldn't be safe, or do the "scarier" rides have somewhere you can stow your stuff?

I usually go to the parks with a backpack and I don't have any problems taking it on all the rides even the roller costers. On some rides they are locations you can stow your stuff but it's not very large. I usually lock the seatbelt through one of the straps of the backpack or put my foot through one of the straps if they don't have a seatbelt.

The only one I know of that has free lockers nearby is GRR. However, as a backpack-carrying mom, I've taken it on just about every ride there (including CS) and the only two that are coming to mind as an issue are GSS (that one is a pain (not foot space in-between people) and I've seen many people toss their backpack to the unloading side while loading) and GGC (I've seen the same thing happen there, but it's seemingly safer as there is only one "train" (is that the right word?) and no other passengers will be by your stuff before you get off).

I haven't been on GRR so I'm not sure how the free lockers work. Is it secure? Could people exiting from the ride before me possibly take my stuff?

I left non 'important' stuff in a diaper bag in the stroller (diapers, hand sanitizer...replaceable stuff). I had a small purse with a really long strap that was super easy to take on the rides. I took it on every single ride :)

We've always taken a backpack with us to the DLR. I have three boys that needed all that little extra stuff once in awhile. We've taken it on every ride in both parks (minus CL, headed there in October). Never ever had an issue, with two exceptions GRR and Splash. Some occasions you get VERY wet and others just a drop. I've just taken a plastic bag from a store like target or safeway and stuffed it inside my backpack. When I go on those two rides and take it out and drop my backpack in it for safety. Have a great trip!

This is exactly what my DDs do. That way you don't have to lug everything onto the ride. Makes it much easier to load, get off and so forth. :thumbsup2
Have a great time! :goodvibes

Instead of taking any bag with me at all, I keep everything loose in the stroller of the basket. I have a small hard side case that I keep my cards, money, and phone in. Other that that, everything gets tossed in the stroller basket. This is easier for us because I don't have to stop and have my bag checked at security, I don't have to carry anything on the rides except my little case. If somebody is looking to steal something, they can see that all we have is snacks, diapers, wipes, and water bottles. Also, my family tends to root through the bag looking for stuff. This way they just grab what the need much quicker.

Granted it's been a while since I've been there, but I always had a backpack with me and it went with me on every ride. The only thing I would do is stash extra sweatshirts and such for the evening in the lockers on Main Street but everything else was with me. It was never a problem on any ride provided you aren't packing for a 3 day hike.

It's very secure. You put your stuff in the locker and choose your own code you put in to lock it. You use that code to open it after the ride. You get a receipt with the locker number on it. You get it for 2 hrs for free to ride the ride.

Since we are past the stroller need now, we always have our backpack on every ride. No problem. I usually put it between my feet on the coasters.

My wife usually just brings a small backpack that is big enough to store the necessary items but small enough to not be a pain when on the rides

We always bring a backpack on the rides. Your stuff really won't get wet through the canvas of the bag on water rides and if you slip your foot through the handle when you place the bad on the floor, even on California Screamin, which goes upside down, you will be just fine! :D We considered not bringing anything with us, since we will have no kids on our upcoming trip, but, with the price of drinks at the parks, we would rather just have some water bottles with us and maybe some healthier snacks too! :D

We always have at least 1 regular sized backpack with us at all times & we bring it on all the rides. We have never lost anything nor has anything ever got wet (even in GRR!!). :)

As others have said, I've taken a bag with me on the rides before and not really had any problems. The only one that's ever been an issue for me is Indy Jones. There is space to stow a bag in front of you (mesh pouch), but it's not large, so a full backpack might not fit. Likewise, the side of the ride car is open, so if you put the bag at your feet, make sure to put it on the inner side! :)

If you do take a backpack, be careful if you put any kind of pins or danglies on the pack. I've lost several pins that way, getting off and on rides.

We take a big bag with our all our stuff and leave it in the lockers, a diaper/wipes and sippy/snacks and leave them in the stroller, unlikely to be stolen and camera/wallet comes on the ride with us

What about on Indiana Jones? I am always paranoid about losing things on there!

Thank you rtfelt! I'm familiar with those lockers. I've seen them at a recreation center/pool

I hear most people say you get SOAKED on GRR...Sally_fan, you must have an extra measure of pixie dust with you!

I have read that GRR is much less wet experience in the winter than in the summer, so perhaps that might be the difference?
