Taking Taxi Cabs To and From DL

Has anyone used taxi cabs as a way to get back-and-forth between your hotel and Disneyland? If so, how easy are they to catch? I imagine if you are taking a cab from your hotel to DL, you would need to call and have a cab sent to you, but if taking a cab from DL to the hotel are there always cabs waiting and where do you find them?

We have caught taxis at the Grand Californian and by the ESPN Zone in Downtown Disney.

From you hotel call a cab or the front desk to call one.

From DL they are on the far side of the shuttle pickup, you will see signs for directions. If you go east through DTD they are just north if you go between Rain Forest Cafe and ESPN Zone, of course you could go in and out the front of the GCH in the same time. Cabs are waiting when people are in the park to take you away.

Do you mean toward Harbor Blvd? If I exit DL and turn left and start walking away from Downtown Disney, is this where I will find the cabs?

Also, are cabs usually waiting outside DL during the middle of the day (for going back to hotels for mid-day breaks), or are they usually only there around closing time?

The cabs are there pretty much all the time. There can be several at times waiting in a line for a fare. Of course late at night and early morning when the park is closed they aren't around.

Yes to Harbor, that's the shorter walk, and if your Hotel is on the east side where most hotels are that's the side you want to go to.

Only go to the DTD or GCH cab pickups if going to a hotel on the west side.


You do know there is the ART shuttle and OCTA bus as options too? Not many people use cabs.

I don't think they do the Harbor pickups any longer, I believe that now you have to walk to the end of DTD to catch one. I'm not sure, I haven't taken a cab for quite a while but that's what I thought.

Where are you staying? That will help us better determine the ease of catching a cab.

I've read enough reviews about timing of ART being unpredictable, or full...but I have not looked into OCTA yet. I kind of like the option to hop in a cab (or bus if available) at times to get to wherever we might stay.

The Dobies have caught cabs by cutting through the GCH lobby and asking one of the parking/bellman CMs to get us one...
