If we decide to cruise- we will be taking one of my DD's friends. What do we need to get from her parents letting us take her out of the country? Any help would be appreciated...

you will need a birth certificate or a passport and a notarized document from both parents giving permission for the trip, including travel dates and destinations.also giving medical authority

We just did this and in your docs there is a page to have the parents sign and have notorized. I had both parents sign and had both signatures notorized. I also typed up a seperate sheet for permission to seek medical care and had that signed and notorized. They never asked to see it, they just took the coupon from the docs and looked at her BC.

We did this with a neighbor's child last October. The mother was the only one that signed the form and we had it notorized. We also had her type and sign a letter stating we could make any medical decisions just in case. Along with a valid BC we had no problem at all.

We did the same thing twice before with our son's friend who was 16 and 17 for the cruises.

The first time we brought him I had a letter signed and notarized by his parents, and the second time DCL had added the form in the document pack. I had it signed and notarized along with a letter giving us permission to seek medical attention. DCL never asked for the letters, but did take the form from the documents.

I have taken our grandkids on 3 cruises and did all of the above. No one ever seemed to care, ask, or question anything. But this year I will do the same, just in case someone asks.

Thanks for the replies! It is so nice to have a place to go and actually get correct info!!! We usually cruise with other couples who have children BUT this was a last minute cruise!
