Taking shoes off at a party??

We started doing it because dd is immunocompromised..I never would have thought about it otherwise, though I have to admit, once I started learning about the germs shoes can carry, it did squick me a bit! I do enjoy the side benefit of the clean floors though, lol.

What would you do if a family member refused to take them off due to orthopedic issues? I wish there was some kind of shoe cleaner they could put their shoes on top of that would disinfect them! Then I wouldn't care if they kept them on!

It's hard for me to say, because I haven't had that issue, but if I did, I would probably stop them at the door, get their shoes and go at the soles with bleach wipes. Because of dd, I always have at least one tub of hospital strength ones, that will kill ANYTHING! (Including furniture finishes!) That would at least give me some peace of mind. After they left I would still be scrubbing the floors though, lol.

we live in the south and no snow but we always take our shoes off. I don't like mud or dirt tracked in on my light colored carpets.
