Taking Rubber Stamps to Cling

I have recently decided that my stamp collection was getting out of hand. It was taking up 1 whole shelf in my closet and I am more of a scrapper than a stamper - hence that is valuable real estate. So I decided that I would take my sister's advice and change them to cling ones that I can use with acrylic blocks. She sent me a link with explicit directions and I got to work. Has only taken me a week to get 4/5 of the way through. The remaining sets either aren't retired (from SU!) or are ones I'm not sure if I am going to keep. I'll share the carnage (blocks, packages, etc) pics once I am done, but I am just so excited about the progress and space this has saved - I wanted to share:

I put them in CD cases and can see what they are by looking at the other side of the case - where I attached the stickers. Now to go buy stuff to put on that shelf...;)

Can you share the website? I have a bunch of wood mounted and I'd LOVE LOVE LOVE to save that space!

ooh, do share the website! maggie

Sure! Sorry I didn't put in the original post, was just happy that I finally remembered to get the pictures off my camera.

The site is http://butterflygail.wordpress.com/2007/06/24/unmounting-rubber-stamps-project/ You'll need a google account to log into her picasa album, but totally worth it - she has step by step instructions with pictures along the way. The only thing I did different was that for some of them, I took the rubber completely off the padding and just glued to the window cling paper.

Thank you! I so need to do this. It's going to save me a TON of space. Was the window cling paper pricey?

Not too bad. I just got the store brand (Staples) at 10 sheets for $12. With all the sets I've done so far, I've only used 6. Placement is a big thing and can save you a lot - just remember to leave room for your scissors as you'll want to be able to cut them apart.

Something to keep in mind when doing this - after you peel the window cling off it's backing, try not to handle the sticky side too much.
