Taking Pictures at a CD?

Somewhere I read something that made it sound like I can't take personal pictures with my own camera of my family with the characters at character dining. That I have to buy a picture from their photographer?

In all the years we have visited Disney and done Character Dinners I have never been given that impression. Some CMs would even take the picture for you ,allowing you to be in the shot too.

Just back from CRT and CM. No problem taking our own pictures.

Some restaurants sell photos posed with one of the characters, but that doesn't mean you can't take photos with your own camera.

I know at CRT and the last with Cinderella downstairs the CM take your picture with her but you can take your own too

Maybe it was referring to Chef Mickey's and the picture in front of the plate before you are seated? We havent' been there yet, but do the CMs take a pic there with your camera,too, if you ask? At Disneyland they will not take a picture with your own camera at Breakfast with Minnie and Friends. Now at Tusker House they took one with our camera outside and then did the Photopass shot, which we ended up buying, too.

We were at Chef Mickey's a few weeks ago and had a party of 9 people. We got two separate pics at the plate - four of us in one pic and five in the other. We had our pic taken with our camera by one of our friends. It doesn't hurt to ask the cast member to take your pic. All they can say is "No".
