Hi we are taking our niece who is 13 with us in a few weeks to orlando, now she has the same surname as us so i dont think i need a letter off consent from her parents or am i wrong?

We took our niece in 2006 and had no problem. She has a different surname, as does my daughter and it has never been questioned. However if you want to leave on a cruise from Florida you need a notorized permission letter from the legal guardian.

You probably don't, but it wouldn't hurt to have one, just in case a medical issue comes up.

I went thru all this in 2008 when we took DS's school friend. There is no legal document required. Your only concern is any medical issues.
After consulting Disney, a solicitor & immigration I put together a consent form that satisfied everyone, its on my website, link on left http://astersflorist.co.uk/

Again we took DS's friend in 2008, we also took him on a Disney cruise, the paperwork said notorized letter, his parents went to get one, they were told they were wasting his time and their money, it was not required so I rang Disney cruiseline, first person I spoke to said it was required but I was passed to a supervisor, she said no they are not required for UK travellers, only US & Canadian's, her only concern was any medical issues, her advice was along with a letter of consent signed by his parents carry proof of signature. So we took his Mums passport for this.
