Ive just got a shiney new android phone on contract. If I use it with my service provider, it will cost a fortune. So I want to know, is there a PAYG sim card I can buy in Orlando to put in my phone that wont cost as much and that I will be able to use the sat nav on my phone. I know I will most likely have to have my phone unblocked to do this but it is a small price to pay. My friend and his family are coming with us and it'd be easier to keep in touch this way too.

Thanks in advance

I've used AT&T sims from eBay and pre bought top ups from pinzoo.com before and plan to again this year. Worked a treat the 100mb data for $19.99 lasted all fortnight.

Pinzoo are cheaper than buying topups in person and you can buy them from the comfort of your sofa but the first time you buy they'll want to ring you to prevent money laundering so expect a call at a strange time!

lol thanks for that, What were you using the data for? Reason I ask is that I want to use the phones sat nav and touring plan for park lines, do you think 100mb will be enough?

If you decide not to use your phone for sat navs etc and keep your english simcard in.... MAKE SURE TO TURN OFF UPDATES WHILE ROAMING. I found out the hard way last september :/

Email, rain radar images to predict storms and lines for busy parks and queue lengths! In a fortnight I think I used 50mb. Turned off all pushing etc. Used email a lot as I run my own business so never truly away from work!

Now sat nav might be a killer though, map data is pretty large. I'd suggest getting some sort of data monitor on android then run sat nav for 30 mins and see how much you use. I suppose a lot of people only have 500mb at home anyway so it can't be too bad.

Great question I was coming to the boards to ask the same questions :)... Looks like London75 gave just the reply I was looking for... thanks

I took my blackberry with me last June and my network automatically changed from O2 to AT&T when we arrived in Florida, I didn't use it much to be honest but I did send a few texts back to England and I didn't even notice any extra on my bill at the end of the month.
