Taking my own water

I am thinking of taking some water with us, but we are flying. Should I just give up on this thought and get it at OKW, or should we try and take 12 or 24 bottles with us? Anyone else try packing water into their checkin luggage? thanks

i have never tried to pack it into my luggage... i would just get it when you get down there... it will still be cheaper than buying it on the park

I wouldn't want to take the chance with it being to heavy. I've heard of folks ordering water from Staples and having it delivered to their resort. Or, you can ship some down yourself, or have a grocery delivery service deliver it along with anything else you might want.

We had a couple of cases of water delivered from Staples. If you sign up for Staples Rewards, it should be free delivery. For less than $10 we had water for the week.

Brita used to sell and hopefully still does a refillable water bottle with a filter. I love taking it to the parks and just refilling it as needed. It can even hang with a lanyard.

We are taking a case of water in a suitcase for the plane ride along with our snacks and breakfast stuff.

We really like the convenience of ordering from a company and having it delivered. For less than 40 dollars we had two flats of water, a case of rice krispie treats :goodvibes and boxes of poptarts delivered right to the WL from Staples. We took ME so a trip to the grocery store was out but found this to be so easy and affordable. Breakfasts, snacks, and water for 8 days - awesome. And good thing we didn't pack it as my suitcase was 49.5 pounds  And while it wasn't too hot in Feb., we used about 1.5 flats of the water and gave the rest to a family just checking in. Have a magical trip!

Definitely planning on buying water once we get to Florida. It would be too heavy to carry in the suitcase.

Last trip we brought a case of water in a carry on. No problems with weight limit. Our luggage did however get lost and I did not get it until the day before we left. :(

go to gardengrocer.com and order water, breakfast items, snack foods and more for only $10 fee. it is well worth the conveinence.

That's great! Where were you staying? We'll be at POP...will they deliver it there?

You can't bring liquids on board the aircraft anymore -

Here is the information from the TSA website:
http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm#0

"All liquids, gels and aerosols must be in three-ounce or smaller containers. Larger containers that are half-full or toothpaste tubes rolled up are not allowed. Each container must be three ounces or smaller.

All liquids, gels and aerosols must be placed in a single, quart-size, zip-top, clear plastic bag. Gallon size bags or bags that are not zip-top such as fold-over sandwich bags are not allowed. Each traveler can use only one, quart-size, zip-top, clear plastic bag.

Each traveler must remove their quart-sized plastic, zip-top bag from their carry-on and place it in a bin or on the conveyor belt for X-ray screening. X-raying separately will allow TSA security officers to more easily examine the declared items. "

Personally I wouln't put water in my checked bags -to heavy and to much chance for it to leak and ruin my and others belongings.

There are a few other options. You can use a grocery delivery service to delivery to your room, rent a car or use a towncar for a grocery stop or ship water to yourself.

How are you getting from the airport to OKW?

We stay at OKW too and instead of DME, I use a town car service that offers a free grocery stop on the way to the hotel. Our OKW studio has a small fridge, a microwave, coffeemaker and a toaster, so even though the towncar is $85 (roundtrip) it's well worth it, considering the water, pop, wine, snacks, breakfast foods, ect...that we get at the the grocery stop are WAY cheaper than buying that stuff anywhere at WDW.
Being able to do a few breakfasts in the room saves a ton of time and money...heck, it's almost worth it just for the bottled water!

I also like the towncar service because we leave MCO as soon as we get our bags and the pick up time on the way back to the airport is alot closer to our departure time...so more time at WDW!

For us the best investment we made is Brita and Culligan water filter bottles! We filled up whenever we ran out at WDW for FREE! All concession areas will give you a FREE cup of water and/or ice. In August, we each went through several bottles of water each day. I stocked up on filters for both Brita and Culligan - although Brita filters and bottles may be hard to find - they stopped making them due to patent infringements.

We didn't mind carrying around our bottles each day because we drank water non-stop all day. We all wore fanny packs and the kids were responsible for carrying their own bottles.

Thanks for the awesome input. This is why I go straight to the experts. I was prepared to be laughed off of the board for asking this question, but I am definitely going to check into Staples and gardengrocer.com:thumbsup2 . Although I would like to go to the store, myself, for the few items we will need, I will just do something like this.

I honestly hadn't thought of all of this. THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!:thumbsup2

Unless there's a flat tire or something, taking the DME bus will take LESS time than waiting for your bags at baggage claim AND making a grocery stop with a car service.

There are good reasons to prefer a car service to DME (personalized service, private ride), but getting to your resort quicker isn't one of them, ESPECIALLY if you plan on making a grocery stop.

Also, just a friendly observation, not angry or yelling or anything :goodvibes ... the "free" grocery stop ends up being more expensive than the premiums Disney puts on their groceries at the resort gift shops, because the "free" grocery stop is a perk of the not-free car service ride, which could run about $120 round trip including tips. I wouldn't pay for a car service ONLY in order to save a few bucks on some groceries.

I used Gooding's (www.goodings.com) twice for grocery deliveries and was fully satisfied each time. And even though I've never personally used Garden Grocer (www.gardengrocer.com), I've spoken with the owner, Brian, and he seems to be a VERY conscientious and nice guy, and I plan to use his service in the future.

And as others have mentioned, if you're looking just for bottled water and maybe some non-perishable snacks, go online to www.staples.com and sign up for their Staples Rewards card -- that's all you need to do to qualify for free shipping, and you can have them ship it to your resort. WDW resorts will hold shipped packages for guests for up to 5 days in advance of arrival.

I had looked for the Brita's, with not much luck...didn't know about Culligan, though. I will check this out. Where is a good place to buy the Culligan bottles?? straight from Culligan?
