Today we are packing up the car to take my Daughter back to the University of Guelph. DD was hired as a residence assistant so she must go back a week early:sad: for RA training. Personally I think if they can do courses by mail, why can't they train that way as well? I think its a good idea:idea:
Its just so hard to believe that this summer is almost over and my DD who is no longer a teenager:eek: is leaving for another year at uni.
I just wish I could let go better than I do...we talk on the phone daily,we both have webcams, she'll be home for Thanksgiving in Oct. but I just find it so hard. The silly thing is...I'm the one who was always pushing her to go away to school for the expierence.
Oh well, I'll just have to 'suck it up' as they say and learn to cope with it, and smile as I wave bye:wave:
Thanks for letting me vent....::yes::

I totally understand. I have two sons going back to their respective universities this weekend (one in Ottawa and one in London). The summer went really fast, didn't it? I really enjoyed having my guys home. I know I'll miss them, but last fall it didn't take me long to adjust.;) I know that by this time next week I'll be enjoying my own music, my own television shows - oh and don't forget those loads of laundry we won't be doing!

Good luck to you and her too..... my guys are only 4.5yo and 10yo so I'm not even close to that stage yet..... not looking forward to it though!lol

I'll wave as you pass my house though :wave2: I don't live that far from UofG

I know the feeling Wendy...I'll be taking DS#1 back to Waterloo on Sunday and DS #2 moved into his own place last week. I have to admit that as sad as I am to see them go, I'm kind of looking forward to having a peaceful household with just DH, DD & myself. ::yes:: I'm already planning my Disney/Scrapping room in my head. ;)

Give me a call when you get back and we can get together & talk Disney...that ought to cheer us up a bit. ;) Besides...you're heading off on your cruise "around the world" ;) in a few weeks and then it's off to WDW with Photobear Sam & StarWars Man so you'll be kept busy until Christmas. :)

Have a safe drive & I'll talk to you when I get back.

Same here Bits. My kiddies are 4.5 and 10.5 ~ one starting kindergarten and one starting grade 6. University will come too fast. S

Same here Sandra...my DD just turned 11 today!!I'am having problems letting go as it is...better start prepping myself now!

That's life for you...one minute your holding them for the first time and the next your sending them off into the real world!

Time flies when your having kids but seems to stand still when they leave...I have to go give my baby a hug before it's too late!

I was an RA at WLU and it was one of my best years at Uni. She will have a blast!

We're coming up quickly, on the "big day" too, Wendy, so I understand how you feel. In a week and a half, Sept. 6, we'll be dropping Dan off at Western. He is very excited to be finally going and right now, I am also caught up with the excitement.

I know I will miss him and I'm trying not to dwell on that right now because I know that this is going to be a wonderful time in his life.

Being the first one, this will be a new experience for me. I keep telling myself, the good thing is that he will only be a half hour drive away and there's always MSN plus, thankfully, it's not long distance to call.

Good luck to all the kids going back to school!

Hey Julie,

Dan can always adopt me as his aunt away from home. Tell him to ask "Sand in Pants" soph about his awesome . aunt whose never left this university since I came here as a frosh in 1981.

I work with a lady whose daughter is headed to Laurier to do her Masters degree (she did her undergrad here) and she is really upset about her baby leaving home. I understand how you feel, but consider it better than Dan being a difficult teenager and you being ecstactic that he's leaving.

You can always come for a visit and he can take you to lunch at the Wave on his meal plan card.;)

And further to Susan's note, she always has a purse full of Tylenol, cold medicine, etc so if Dan is ever feeling ill, tell him to head upstairs in UCC to see "aunt Susan" and she'll fix him up! :p

wenabre...I hope that the trip down is good but at least you have several trips planned to take your mind off of Kaighley being at Uni...

We promise to keep you very busy the week you join us in Orlando and I can't wait to see you in October...::yes::

katdb...Good luck in your 2nd year...You rock:yo-yo:

Well I'm back home,:( , and its a big empty house! Even the cat and the dog are not happy with me for taking DD back to University. It was a busy two days, with the drive down and unpacking the car, then the storage locker and then picking up lots of last minute items, juice, fruit and a desk chair ( at the grocery store  )
DD has now started her training as a residence assistant which will last till the freshman students arrive on labour day weekend.
Thank heaven for phones and email and webcams or I know I would not last the semester.
I now know what my Mom went through when I moved to England to do my Nurse's training and long distance was so expensive and there was no such thing as PC's and email ( yes, I'm that old, so no  please).
I always thought I would be able to let go gracefully, but I guess I am just a big wuss! ::yes:: To all those facing this or soon to be facing this, I wish you the best of luck, as its the hardest thing to do,:sad2: and now its time for another good

Wendy ( the wailing wuss:sad1: )

Did you say WUSS???

Nawwww.....I know for a fact that the only wuss at your house is Lynden...:p
