Do i contact the US Embassy to see what allowed & whats not allowed to take into the USA.
I just want to make sure that my prescribed medication is all allowed.

Medication
Rule of thumb: When you go abroad, take the medicines you will need, no more, no less.
Narcotics and certain other drugs with a high potential for abuse—Rohypnol, GHB, and Fen-Phen, to name a few — may not be brought into the United States, and there are severe penalties for trying to do so. If you need medicines that contain potentially addictive drugs or narcotics (e.g., some cough medicines, tranquilizers, sleeping pills, antidepressants, or stimulants), do the following:

Declare all drugs, medicinals, and similar products to the appropriate CBP official.
Carry such substances in their original containers.
Carry only the quantity of such substances that a person with that condition (e.g., chronic pain) would normally carry for his/her personal use.
Carry a prescription or written statement from your physician that the substances are being used under a doctor's supervision and that they are necessary for your physical well being while traveling.

Thank you
I'll take my repeat precriptions with me , but do you think i should double check with the embassy

We never checked with the Embassy and DH was on a myriad of medications that could be seen as potentially abused/addictive but he needed them so we just took enough to last and backed it up with a letter from the GP and kept them in their original containers:goodvibes

We never encountered any problems and he always took them in a separate bag, as his hand luggage :)
I also remember faxing the airline (Virgin) a list of medication, and accompanying GP letter, at their request, before we travelled.

If it would ease your mind I'd contact the embassy but, in my opinion, trying to swap round medication for the sake of a holiday seems a little inconsiderate, on their behalf.:confused3

See what you can find online, maybe?
I seem to think the calls to the Embassy are a ridiculous amount of money/minute...................:scared1:

im sure as long as you take a Drs letter you should be ok.x

Thanks everyone will get Doc's letter to be on the safe side

I agree, we take medication for Joshua and have never had a problem with a Doctor's note, we also take a copy of the prescription.

Last time we went from Manchester, staff were happy just to look at the packaging with the chemists labeling with my name on. I did have copies of all my prescriptions with me, but nobody wanted to see those, but I'll still take them on my next trip just in case.
