Taking kids out of school - Advice Please

I've seen several unique ideas on the boards for extra assignments when you take your kids out of school for your vacation. And, of course, I can't remember any of them.

We'll be taking our DD's, first and second graders, for a week at the end of April. They'll have some assignments from school but I'd like to encourage them to do some extra.

It will be hard as we'll be celebrating a 7th birthday while we're there, but I'd like to try.

Any suggestions?

Oh yes. I do kind of remember one. Get them a passport at EPCOT and have it stamped and get the CM to tell, or write, something interesting about their homeland.

I also remember seeing a letter a mother wrote that was fantastic, but I can' remember what was in it.

Anybody got any ideas?

My kids kept a daily journal and left space for pictures. When we had our pictures developed (you can tell how many years ago that was ) we pasted a picture from that day in on each journal entry. The kids took them to school and shared with the class. They also make for a great keepsake.

Thanks Darcy03231. I bought just the thing the other day for something else, but it will work perfectly for what you suggested.

Any other ideas out there?

Get them each a disposeable camera or two and let them take pictures to present to the class in an album.
They take the most interesting pictures. Lots of different views.
And they will have a story for each picture.

If you get autograph books only let the charecters sign on the right hand pages. Get a picture of each charecter and put it opposite their signature (this one is for personal use). Also if you will be taking pictures in EPCOT countries make sure you get a picture of something in each country without anyone in it. You can use it for the title of pictures (Thinking scrapbooking here).
