My son is quite large for his age. The stroller we have now seems to be getting small for him. I'd like to buy a jogging stroller that folds and use this for our upcoming trip to Disney.
Has anyone taken a jogging stroller to Disney? It's the same size as a regular stroller in terms of width so I will be able to manuever in aisles and such.
If it's foldable can I check it at the gate or is there some time of regulation on the size of stroller you can check at the gate?

You should be able to check it at the gate. Just tell the agents when you are checking in or at the gate counter and they will get you the necessary slips.

You also shouldn't have a problem inside the parks. All the aisles seem wide enough to get bigger strollers through.

The one suggestion is to get one with small swivel wheels on the front (some come with a large front wheel, but also have a set of smaller swivel wheels that you can change to).
The ones with one large, non-swiveling wheels are meant for jogging and are not well suited for crowded places where you have to make a lot of sudden stops or small changes in direction. At one point in time, WDW was stopping people from coming in with those types of jogging strollers (they held the stroller in the stroller rental area and lent a WDW park stroller in its place).

Alswo, if you are going in stores, etc, the front wheel becomes something that sticks out in front of your stroller quite a ways and makes it hard to turn.

SueM,
Thanks for the suggestion. :) I was planning on getting one with a moveable wheel. I tried the one with the fixed wheel and I was struggling with it...I'm not a runner so I have no need for a fixed wheel. I don't know how people use them...I'm just not that coordinated!

I have one that is made by Jeep - can't remember the exact name. You have the option of a swivelling wheel or with a switch of a latch make it stationery. It folds small enough that with a simple unlatching of the foot rest, I can easily get it into the truk of our Dodge Neon.

I don't know your exact details but would it make more sense for you to rent one at the park? The ones they have fit bigger kids and are incredibly easy to turn, etc...

I was told NOT to bring a jogger my first trip -
I bought a cheapie

In hind sight the jogger would have been fine.

I just got back from Fort Myers and took a jogger for my youngest at the airports and it was all good...

my only hesitation is if you anticipate being on the busses a lot.

Yes, I am entertaining that idea. I guess I would need to bring a blanket to make it a little more comfy? He doesn't sleep in the stroller so using a park stroller may work.

How old is your little one? You may be surprised about him sleeping in the stroller. Our 4 yr old who does not nap napped in the stroller everyday and except for lines, meals, etc she was in the stroller all day everyday. As far as comfort, I think it was more exhaustion than anything so she found a way to sleep in the stroller.

Won't make a difference for most swivel-wheel models, but if your jogging stroller can only be folded with the wheels removed, you have to come up with a way to carry the wheels on the aircraft. I've seen people take them on in a trash bag or pillowcase, and I've also seen people use a large zippered tote that they gate-checked as well. Using some kind of sack is necessary if you carry them on, because otherwise they will roll all around the overheads.

Personally, in this situation I would try to carry the wheels on unless I had a really good way to securely attach them to the stroller frame when the stroller is gate-checked. Perhaps a couple of bungees through the spokes? (But I'm thinking that might bend the spokes?)

I brought my double jogger back in April and was soooo glad I did! Gate checked it with no problem and loved to have it at disney!! Our double jogger is our trip stroller - has been to Florida, Montreal and Mexico and have often been the envy of people asking me where I rented it from as the kids are comfy, the bags all fit and it it suitable for all terrain, even through the sand on Fort Lauderdale beach and down on the Mayan Riviera! You won't regret it and a jogger is so easy to spot at the stroller park and ride! Just don't forget your rain cover!!!

Have fun!!
