Taking Granchildren

I am taking my 9 year old grandaughter to Disney in September. I have her passport. And will be taking her birth certificate and health card. I am also going to take the signed consent letters from her parents (who don't live together). Has anyone else taken their grandkids recently. ARe there any other documents I need? I was thinking I should phone the US consulate and make sure that I have everything covered. Would hate to get to the border (we are flying out of Detroit)and not be able to get across because I have forgotten something.

It sound like you have everything covered, I would check with US authorities to confirm what you need. I have heard that consent letters need to be notorized but I would make some calls before going that route. I would have all my travel docs handy to show where and what you are doing. I

you have everything you need but get the consent letter notarized. We have been asked every time for the past 2 years and the one time it was not notarized I got a hard time. Still got over but not worth the hassle.

I have taken my niece on Disney trips the past two years and have brought her passport, medical card and a notorized letter.

The first trip flying out of Vancouver I gave them the letter and was questioned why her mother wasn't coming.

The second trip we flew out of Seattle and when crossing the boarder gave our passports. Never asked for a letter or questioned at all.

Thanks for all the tips. I never even thought of getting the consent forms notorized. I will call them to verify just in case.
