I think you are allowed to take most foods onto the plane within reason, but there are restrictions on what you can take into the US (mainly no fruit, vegatables, seeds, dairy produce etc.)

I know you can take like snacks (Crisps, Chocolate, Sweets, Etc..)

If you pack food-stuff in your suitcases you may have to open them at security when you arrive, we have always taken Bisto gravy (for Josh) and thankfully as yet never had anything taken away from us.

They are particularly strict on dairy/meat produce, so no Milky Bar chocolate I am afraid.

its food for my boys i know they won't eat plane food so if i make rolls it should be alright or do i have to buy pre packed food in the duty free

You should be fine taking rolls/sandwiches , if they do not get eaten though I would stick them in the bin before you get off the plane.

Indeed there are!!! We got 'sniffed out' by one on our recent trip as we had had baby food in our bags for Joseph to eat. Once we made it through Immigration we had to do a second baggage scan where all our bgs had to be x-rayed before we were allowed to continue

It was the most worthless exercise I have ever been through though as the officials running the machine spent the whole time in converstation with each other totally ignoring the screen At then end we weren't sure if we could go on so I interrupted them to ask and one of the guys just waved his hand at me and said go on

I must hand it to the sniffer dog though, he has one terrific nose on him

If you are flying with Virgin then they get a lunch pack when they get on the plane (unless that has finished now) which has snacks in it, if that helps

Didn't get one of these in August so presume they have finished, to be honest the contents were not really enough for a hungry child.

I would agree , would certainly be a risk taking one - on the plus side Gooding's do very nice Christmas Cakes so you could buy one out there?

I took some M&S christmas cake slices through in 2004 ok. They were all in an unopened box. I also took some mince pies.

Be aware that if you take snacks that contain nuts you may be asked not to open them. Last time we flew there was someone on the plane allergic to nuts, which meant no one on the plane was allowed to eat anything containing nuts.
