I haven't been to WDW since 2000. It seems to me you were not allowed to take food and drinks into the parks, although I remember lots of people did it, including us.

With more stringent security these days, I assume they are searching backpacks. Is there any issue with taking bottled water in, or snacks?

Thanks,
Shirley

Food is not a security issue and that is what security is looking for.
There should be no problem bringing food in.

They still search your bags, but unless you've got something dangerous in there like guns, knives or beer (!) you're fine. In fact, many times they joke if they can join you for lunch!

I know many people bring small soft sided coolers in. We just fill each of our fanny packs and a couple of small backpacks with snacks, such as goldfish, fruit snacks, etc. For water, I bring a Brita bottle on my bottle strap and ask for a cup of ice at eating places, which is free. We do buy soda in the park, though.

Have a wonderful time! You'll find a lot of new things to enjoy!
