Taking CRT Sword on Airplane?

So,
We are doing CRT on our last day, and our luggage will already be checked in. Not having seen the sword, I wasn't sure if we will have any trouble taking it on the plane with us? How big is it? How realistic looking?

Thanks

The last time our family went to Disney, ds ended up with a toy sword from HS. While we were scrambling our last day trying to pack, my dh had the bright idea to pack ds' sword in my bag that I was using as a carry-on. Well, when we were going through security at MCO the security officer gave me a very stern lecture about trying to bring the sword on a plane. It held up the line for a few minutes and was extremely embarrassing. However, when I asked her if I could just throw it away, she told me to keep it and let me through.

It's now a joke for dh and I every time we go through airport security. I am now very careful about what I pack in my carry-on!

By the way, ds' sword was obviously a toy (cheap plastic) and could have never been used or mistaken for a real one. I'm not familiar with the ones given at CRT though.

Think it may be different for international travellers but we definitely have to pack ours in checked in luggage not hand luggage. When we went in 2007 and the hostess asked the usual questions about luggage I did say that DS had a toy sword in blue case and she wrote it down but told me it didn't really have to be advised. Wrong!!! This year we packed the CRT sword in our case and didn't declare it and the case was opened by US customs and not re-sealed properly although a customs form was placed in it to advise this had been done. Luckily the only item to be lost through the case being incorrectly re-fastened was one of DS sweaters.

I would NEVER not declare anything of the sort in checked in luggage again and certainly wouldn't attempt to carry through in hand luggage as understandably your customs officers are on the ball to avert terrorism.

I'd like to think they use the same tough measures on internal flights, afterall that is what was hit on 9/11

no laughing at the photo it is all I have we were goofing around on teh bus

I'll post my daughters wand too incase anyone wants to see that

Thanks so much for the pictures (love them!). I have sent an email to TSA (airport security) to see what they say.

:cool1:We had two of them in Aug 07 and packed it in our checked luggage. Didn't tell anyone we had them. Didn't think we had to, because they clearly aren't the real thing. We fly out of Orlando International Airport and didn't have any problems. We will be doing the same thing next month!!! Enjoy.
