Taking care of geraniums

I have a flower box on my front porch with geraniums. A week or so ago, they looked gorgeous--almost fake. Now, the flowers are dying. So am I supposed to pull the dead flowers off, cut them down or what? I want to keep them healthy and beautiful but am so baaad at this.

Pull the dead flowers off so that they don't drain the plant of energy. You'll soon get some new buds. Geraniums are a very hearty plant and will bloom all summer. Even I can grow them! Good luck.

The poster above is right you have to dead head this plant. There are other you have to do that too. As soon as the flower dies pick of the head and more will come.

All we do is water ours once a day, and we do pick off the dead ones, and they do great, even it the Florida heat and sun.

It's not hard to pick off the dead ones--usually the stem loosens from the rest of the plant and the whole dead thing will fall off in your hand. I go around dead-heading mine about every other day. Geraniums are very easy and care-free. As long as they get a lot of sun and some water, they'll bloom and bloom. We even let ours winter over in the basement--we've had the same plant for the last 3yrs, going strong. Good luck!
