We have 5 kids, 4 are adults and then we have a 3 year old. We would allow the olders kids (who are adults) to bring someone.
Just trying to figure out where to stay and how the rooms shall be, it will be around Christmas 2013, but not Christmas week, we will be adding the Dinning plan
:confused3

I think rent the points @ OKW. You would all be together in one VIlla and the atmosphere at OKW is great!

To me, it depends on how the adult kids feel about sharing a room. Disney may offer free dining during your December dates, and if so, I would vote for three rooms at CSR. That would give you the biggest bang for your buck.

OKW is a great place, too, and I have heard good things about the Grand Villa. You would have a kitchen and could cook some meals. The washer/dryer is nice to have, too, especially with a 3 year old.

If the adult kids feel as though they need more privacy, then there is nothing wrong with a value resort. Five rooms would definitely give you the most space, privacy, and bathrooms of any option. Can't go wrong with extra bathrooms!

Good luck deciding! All the options are good. If you can tell us more about the adult kids and how they feel about the issue of privacy, that would help me to better know how to vote.

Laminate flooring has become recognized as an attractive and cost-effective alternative to solid and engineered hardwood flooring. This is because it rivals its counterparts in appearance and durability but is often easier to maintain and much less expensive

REALLY???? Advertising................i feel the burn coming on.

I'd do the 3 rooms at CSR as long as the adults don't mind sharing (and truthfully if they do mind I think I'd have them pay their way?) If you are paying for the trip I'd put the rules down as this is what I will pay for. I think you have a better chance of 3 rooms being together vs 5 at a value.

I think with a group that big I'd probably not rent points. If a good discount was to come out then you want to be eligible for that and not tied down to a DVC rental that you can't cancel. Free Dining for 11 people would be a great cost savings

If you have a preference, I would go with that. If not, seems like you should put it to a vote with your adult kids. But if there is a "wrong" answer, don't include that choice in the vote. Remember the golden rule...he who has the gold makes the rules! You are being very generous whichever option you choose. Hope you have a great trip!

If it were me I would go with the Grand Villa or the moderate

We have done it multiple ways, including a grand villa.

My adult children prefer to have their own private space over all else. In fact, as the people paying for the trip, we prefer it too. The 24-7 togetherness of shared living space can be great and it can be horrible.

We have learned that space is best, not to plan all activities together. One meal a day is enough. We meet each morning to go over what everyone wants to do and then we go our separate ways; some in groups, some not.

If the cost of 5 rooms at a value is the same as 3 rooms at a mod then I would just go for the 5 rooms at a value. That way everyone has their "own" space. You might not be able to get 5 rooms together, but I'd bet they would at least try to put the rooms near each other.

Sounds like you guys are in for an amazing vacation regardless of where you decide to stay!

I would not get a GV. You only have three bedrooms. So the four adult kids and their guests will be sharing rooms.

As a young adult with several adult siblings, I would probably lean most towards the 5 rooms at a Value. If my parents were paying, I'd go along with whatever or pay my own way. (ie. how I ended up in a Doubletree Guest Suite with half my family in 2010)

Giving them some say is always nice, but since you're paying you get to make the decisions.

This is a hard choice, but i was thinking that the Grand Villa will have less bathrooms, and keeping track of everyone's dinning points might be difficult.

I have narrowed it down to 4 perf rooms and 1 family suite (for us) at ASMu or 5 regular rooms at POFQ, the price difference between the two choices is $1250, with POFQ everyone would get fridge, but I am not sure that everyone would need them, probably only us.
I am going to be flexible on this if the free dinning comes out,

Thanks, you all gave me good things to think about

When you say adults so you mean 20's or 30's? lol It also depends on how close everyone is. But, of the choices I like POR the best personally. As for getting a Villa, that would be out for me. I would NEVER cook on vacation! lol :confused3 So having a kitchen would be a waste to me and I know how it is having family in my home for a few days, I wouldn't want to be confined to a very small space with my parents for a week. Of course, I am in my 40's. ;)

All the values have fridges now too just FYI if that's weighing on your decision

I would either do the Grand Villa or the 5 rooms at Movies. I definitely would not do either POR or CSR because I genuinely believe it would be quite crowded and uncomfortable with 4 adults in either of those rooms.

The adults are between the ages of 19 - 27

It really depends on the personalities in your family.

Part of my family is able to do five adults per room, part my family needs a room per couple. You know your family best, and what they like. When we cram in one room though, it is usually to get a deluxe room. It is harder to cram into value rooms.

With a group that large, I have found the dining plan to be a big advantage. whether you are paying for food, or each person is paying ther own way - haiving the bulk of it paid up front - generally - simplifies things- so long as EVERYONE is on the DDP. Meals where half the group is on DDP and half is not are nightmares. (the trouble is that it takes FORVER to get TS bills settled.) We do the basic dinign plan. Everyone agrees to one TS per day.

It also depends if yor group is the kind where everyone is morning people, night people, do things people or sleep-in people. If everyone is in sync- thigns go more smoothly. You can't put a morning perons with a night person though....and other considerations - like who is sensative about room temps/light in the room, light sleepers, excessive packers....

If you go the five adults per room - we usually do - everyone has to be willing to accept a certain amount of compromise. If they can't do that, then go seperate. Mostly we tour together. I find it personally frustrating if part of the group arrives late. We've got FP for one attraction, they want to go on something we've already ridden....Much better to start each day together, then maybe split up for a bit before dinner, or take the small child on tame rides while the adults go on thrill rides. Also use (stroller) nap times the same way - or late nights. it's much easier if everyon agrees to a basic arrival at nine am each day. If they can't arrive on time - they don't get to demand certain rides.

I'm not a big fan of the villas. I think they are overpriced. I also don't want to cook at WDW. We've atually had better luck going deluxe. It's pricey, buteasy to coordinate everyone at a place like CR. At the big mods, you spend a LOT of time walking around the resort.

So let's say you go to breakfast. After breakfast everyone wants to head out - except that someone forgot an itme in the room (jacket, sunglasses, etc.) At CR tower rooms- it will take them ten minutes. At the huge mods- it could cost over half an hour!

Given your choices, I'd suggest value resort 'preferred location' rooms might be the way to go. Some villas are in convenient locations, some are not. Generally speaking - they are not as convenient as regular deluxe rooms,as far as how long it takes to walk to yoru room from the pool/food court, etc. They are more like mods. That's another reason why they don't appeal to me. But maybe OKW or SSR are better. Any of the resorts where the DVC is beside a deluxe have that problem.

At WDW, time is money- with a big group- that is double-true. You can spend a LOT of time waiting on food, waiting for everyone to use the bathrooms, waiting of folks to dry their hair... A preferred location room at Movies is close to the pool, close to the food ourt, close to the bus stop. Though I'd give Pop a bit of an edge over Movies.
