What is the reward if it is a standard one? My DH thinks that your compensation is based on the price of the ticket you purchased, and not a standard "$200 voucher." Is he correct?

Last time we took a bump (about 2 years ago), they gave us $200 plus the price of the flight.

Our flight was overbooked on Sunday by one person. They gave the person who volunteered to be bumped a $200 voucher, face value of the ticket and a meal.

It depends on how badly they need a volunteer. They first time they ask it may be $100, then if they have to ask again because no one took it, it may go to $200 and so on.....MOST of the time I've seen it be $200 + the cost of your One Way fare. If they can't get you on a flight that day, they will get you a hotel too.

I was about to take off on a SWA flight to Denver and heard them announce a "bump" opportunity. I failed to shoot my hand up fast enough to jump on it, as I was in no hurry to get there, and there were multiple flights leaving for Denver not more than 90 minutes later.

The reward was $200 plus flight fare refund. I would have made out like a bandit, but I had to think about it first. Oh well. Live and learn.

thanks for posting this Bobbi - might even consider it for my next trip. my trips down there is still on sale. but my fly coming back is not available!!!!
