Hi guys,

Looking for some advice about taking a small baby to WDW. My baby will be 4 months old by the time we go, so will still be bottle fed and not yet on solids. The first time we went with my eldest daughter she was 1 so didn't really need to take baby milk etc..

How many cartons of milk do you take?( we are going for 2 wks), what do you do about sterilising? What about tins of powder? Do you buy bottled water to make up bottles or just use boiled cooled water? We are staying onsite at wdw so don't need to bring a travel cot which is one less thing to carry.

Any hints/tips would be great.

Rachel :thumbsup2

Hi we took out GD when she was 3 months last year, we took 2 tins of formula with us in a case which was plenty and pre ordered cartons from Boots airside. We bought bottled water once over their ,then boiled it before putting into bottles. As for sterilizing we did this by microwave. Well my wife did all of this:lmao:

We took both our children at 5 months. We took a cold water steriliser and sterilising tablets for when we were there. We didn't take any cartons with us, but did buy some in the airport for an emergency! We took bottles filled with boiled water for the journey and a small tin in hand luggage and had no problems at security. Make sure you take plenty of powder for your holiday as i think it is pretty different over there. Take a parasol as they don't really sell them over there! We also took a little fan that clips to the pushchair from mothercare!
Hmmm, can't think of anything else, but just let me know! It is pretty easy when they are that age as they are happy in their pushchairs and not wanting to get out and toddle or crawl!!

Hi We took our DS when he was 10 months for his 1st trip he was still on formula (and still is, cows milk makes him poorly!!)
We made some milk up before we went and kept it in a small cool bag and also ordered some airside from boots, we took 3 tins of SMA with us and this lasted us (just) whilst we were there. We took a travel kettle to make the milk up and also boiled water and sterilesed the bottles this way, we took a tupperware bowl with a lid to place the bottles in to sterilise.
We went in August and took a 'shade a babe' with us. These fit over the whole of the pram therefore you are not having to keep moving the parasol when the sun moves, we got ours from jojo mama babe, they are an australian design. We also attached a small fan to the pram to keep him cool
Baby food we ordered from Garden Grocer and this was there waiting when we arrived, we took a couple of jars on the plane, DH just had to taste them to go through customs.

Hope this helps I'm trying to remember if there is anything else that will help you xx

Tins of formula - US stuff is different & very expensive. I used microwave steriliser bags, but that will depend on which resort you are staying in as to whether you will have access to a microwave. I guess you could always use the one in the food court otherwise. Another thing we always take is calpol - my girls tell me the american equivalent is not as yummy - it's grape flavoured. I have to say youngest DD was 4 months the first time she went & it was a breeze - the facilities in the park for changing & feeding etc. are excellent & great to hide from the sun too.

we took dd at 5 months and she hadnt yet started on solids and it was by far the easiest holiday we had with her! We took milton sterilising tablets and some sterilising bags from mothercare - easier than the electric steriliser at home. And took a travel kettle from home to make up the feeds. We took 2 boxes of formula to be safe (think she was 4 bottles a day 6-7oz) and it was more than enough and i also packed 4 pre made cartons for the trip home. On the way out did the boiled water in bottles and this was fine although be aware if you use dr browns that the pressure makes them leak so loosen the lids on takeoff! We had a buggy shade which was brilliant and kept her cool and she slept fine in the pushchair, also had a clip on fan and this was handy. The baby centres in the park are brilliant for feeding, changing and just having a rest in! We did an online grocery order with garden grocer for nappies and wipes so i didnt have to bring any of that stuff. Def take a comfy pushchair as lo will be in it alot, or maybe a baby sling if you use one. But as i say we have taken her to disney at 5 months, 12 months, 15 months and 20 months and the easiest by far was the 5 month trip!

just thought, we also brought a sheet (and cot mattress) for the travel cot from home so it smelt familiar and i knew what it had been washed in as dd has exzema and she slept fine for the whole trip in the disney travel cot.

We haven't been to Florida with the girls yet but have been away twice with them and both times I have taken lots of nappies, I think for our two weeks in Egypt I took over 100nappies and 3 tins of milk, we justbhad a week in Tenerife and I took formula as I was unsure on their cows milk, I took one tin which exploded in my case! Luckily I purchased 12 cartons of ready made at gatwick

Enjoy it with them. We arebtaking the girls in oct and they will be 23 months

We took DD at 9 months and although she eating solids I was still breast feeding so never had to worry about formula!

Nappies I took with me the first couple of trips but then just took enough for on the plane and the first day and went and bought some at Publix. I always take wipes as they don't need much room in the case.

If you haven't go a stroller yet I can not recommend the Baby jogger City mini highly enough - it reclines really well and has a double canopy so provides excellent shade. It is also a dream to push :goodvibes I wish I had this from the first trip with DD.

She has now been 5 times and each time has been exciting and different.

Thank you everyone :) This is really helpful. Lots of things that i hadn't thought of.

Everyone keeps saying that we are mad to take a baby of this age but i don't care. Can't wait.

Rachel :)

Take enough nappies for the plane and first couple of days and buy the rest there - including swim nappies. Take your own powder formula - if you have access to a microwave you could take some microwave sterilising bags. You will need to declare the formula on your white form - when you go through customs they ask what it is and when you tell them baby formula they will send you to another guy who asks you about it - no big deal. I second the person who spoke of a shade a babe - they are great - look on ebay plenty of second hand ones.
Enjoy! xxx
