I want to have our picture taken in front of the castle this year and I was wondering where the best spot is? I always see the photographers lined along Main Street so should we go to the first one or wait until we are right up on the castle? :grouphug:

I usually wait till I get closer to the castle. You will see it more in the background of your picture. This past summer we went to the last one. The castle is nice a close.

In the last week, I read somewhere that they are rehabbing/reconstucting/redoing the area in front of the castle for the celebration that begins in May. Something about big green tents. For any one who is there now, is that true and if so, how does it affect what you would see in the background for pictures?

We had our picture taken at the last photographer. We were almost in front of the Mickey and Walt statue. The picture came out great. We had a PS for 8am at the Crystal Palace when MK opened at 9am. When we came out of breakfast there was about 10 minutes to when the park opened. The photographers were out and waiting so we had our picture taken with no one in the background. We also had the photographer take the pictue with our camera. It came out so good that we bought the real one anyway.

When i went in September of 2002, there was a big crane next to the castle. They digitally altered the pictures the Disney photographers took to remove the castle, so I would imagine they'd do the same with the green tarps.

We took a picture on the Tomorrowland side of the castle by the rose garden. There is a small fenced off area.

We have done both, and if it is the castle that you want behind you, wait until you are the castle end of Main Street. However, with the Photopass, why not get one with Main Street, too? Each photographer usually takes 2-3 different shots, so when you get home you can have many different options and a better chance of everyone smiling and looking good.

Also, the photographer who took our castle picture told me that they were no longer allowed to do the Tinkerbell picture with the castle background. She had some excuse about how it wasn't working well and that they were told Tinkerbell might be removed permanently from the choices. I'm thinking it is more about getting people to buy more pictures, one with the castle, and the cute one with Tink in our hands with Main Street behind us. I know that if I had one with Tink and the castle, that's the one I would pick if we were all smiling.

Oh, and they also superimpose Stitch coming out of a hat that we are holding at MGM with the sorcerer hat in the background.

I had to ask for the Tinkerbell shot, but the photographers at MGM were taking the Stitch one for every group.

I heard about the new photopass and definetly will take more pictures because of it. Can you tell me how it works? Does one photographer in WDW take your pic and then give you the pass and then you give it to all of the other photographers when they take your pic. Also, when you go to the Judge's tent in Mickey's Toontown Fair do they use photopass there too?

The green walls in front of the castle will be up till March 18. I also understand they are going to start working on the sidewalks on Main St. at the end of Jan.
