Taking a break during the day?

Hello!

I have been looking at the timinings of the day, orginally was looking at a 2:30pm ceremony, reception in late afternoon and then straight on to a dessert party.

But, I've been thinking that I really want to be able to relax and enjoy all the goodies at the Dessert Party in the evening and that my dress is quite heavy so may restrict me from gorging all the lovely food.

Has anyone had a break in the day where guests could do what they liked for a couple of hours and you could take a breather and possibly get changed? Did this interupt the flow of the day or was it well recieved?

Thanks so much!:thumbsup2

Many people have done this. Read lurkyloo's TR. She had a break and discussed how great it turned out for her.

I was just gonna reply to this, but it looks like I don't have to - thanks, PrincessShea! :thumbsup2

...Well, OK, I love to talk about this, so I'll talk about it some more. I think taking a break during the day can actually make your wedding even more special. Instead of it being just one more event tacked on to a big long event that started 6 hours ago, the dessert party is kinda like a bonus to look forward to when the main event - the wedding and the reception - is over.

Our reception ended at 2pm, and DH and I spent a couple hours in our room relaxing, napping, and going over the events of the day. I was so glad that our wedding was quite over yet, though, and we still had the dessert party to look forward to.

Anyway, the link to my trip report is in my signature, under "Wedding!"

We did the same thing. Our ceremony started at 9:00am so everyone was up, dressed and out early. Our pre cocktail hour was from 10:00 to 11:00 and our reception was from 11:00 to 3:00 when all our guests went back to their resort with our charted bus.

We went for an extra hour or so of pictures with Misty and then went back to our room and relaxed, went though our guest book and wedding cards and most important got out of our wedding clothes for a bit. My dress was very comfortable but I had had it on since around 7:00am.

In speaking with our guests they all went back to their room and got changed, relaxed and hung out by the pool - I think alot of them continued the party over there. We all met back at Epcot around 8:00 for our DP. I really think everyone enjoyed the break and like lurkyloo said it really extended the wedding day and gave everyone a chance to get together again.
