Taking a bike to Disney Resorts/Cycling there

Hi,

My husband wants to bring his road bike (bicycle) on our next Disney trip so that he can keep up training and have some fun riding around Lake Buena Vista.

We will be staying at the Poly and AKL. Does anyone have any advice or tips about brining a bike, where to rider, good routes, will guest services keep bike there or can it stay in room. I'm also curious if Disney may frown on my hubby ripping around roads.

My DH is also a cycling fanatic, but puts his bike away when we're in WDW. The biggest problem I can think of is that almost all the roads there are 4-6 lane highways. I don't remember what kind of shoulders they have, (we were always on a bus) but unless you are going really early, there will be alot of traffic. There is a loop road around MK that would connect up with the Poly, but I think it is restricted to WDW CMs. Officially they will probably say to ride in FW, but that would be really short. Maybe a bike club in Orlando or Kissimmee would have some other suggestions.

Fort Wilderness is the only place that I can think of where biking would be a good idea.


I **STRONGLY** discourage cycling along Disney roadways. They do not have shoulders, and get VERY busy. Even a seemingly back road gets VERY busy. Cast Members and tourists alike are notorious for doing crazy things, especially speeding.

Not to mention it really is a pain for the bus drivers, who have to jam on the brakes and follow the bike, because we cannot pass them.
