Has anyone got any tips for taking a baby to DLP?

Myself, DH, DD 3.5 years and DS 3.5 months will be going to DLP on 5 Nov. We are driving, using Eurotunnel and staying Castle Club at the DL hotel.

We travelled to WDW when DD was 6 months old but that seems a dim memory now!

I am partly breastfeeding (cutting down now) and using formula most of the time.

I have bought travel steriliser bags and a travel kettle. Shall i use bottled water or tap water? I have sachets of formula plus a tin to take. Will take some ready made cartons just in case too. I will pack fairy liquid and a bottle brush plus some tea towels. Anything else I need?

I think i will take our own travel cot too- it has a bassinet for young babies.

I have a couple of snow suits to lay DS in the pram- easier than coats.

DD has been to WDW 6 times so i am used to travelling with a toddler. It just seems sooooooooo long ago that she was a baby.

Any tips or advice?
Thanks so much,

Hi Mandy,

Shall i use bottled water or tap water?

I'd be tempted to use bottled water, but that's coz I'm so obsessive! I'm always a bit funny about using water in hotels for anything other than washing in.

There's a room for nursing mums in the baby care centre on Main Street and they give the mums free drinks! The baby care centre also has the best baby change in the park.

The most essential item I needed last time I went to Disney was Tommee Tippee disposable bibs. Saved lots of hassle and washing when I got home! Oh and plenty of muslins! I also used those fleece snowsuits with a flap at the bottom, rather than legs, so that you don't have to undress baby for nappy changes, you just unpopper the flap! (They look a bit like a fleece growbag with arms and a hood and poppers half way down).

Disney is the most baby friendly place I've ever been to, so I'm sure you'll have a great time.

Enjoy your trip!

All the best,

Sally

We are travelling with our DS who is 4.5 month (And his 4 y/o brother!) from 2 - 5 November.

Like you, I am breastfeeding, but supplementing with formula. I plan to use bottled water when necessary to mix with powdered formula. Also, do you have access to the bottle system that has the drop-in bags? They eliminate the need to sterilize the bottles..all you have to do is clean the nipples well.

Have fun on your trip!

- Tara
PS - Thanks for the info on the baby stations. I used the ones at WDW during our last trip and they are a life saver.

We took my 5 month old sister Amber in August. It was probably one of the best trips we ever had !!!!. There was very little we didn't do in the main park but there is not much that she enjoyed in the Studios apart from Animagique and the Flying Carpets.
Rides she enjoyed:
Its a Small world.............. she loved this
Casey junior............ The same
Fairy tale boat ride.......... not sure
Pirates......... left her a bit confused but we all enjoyed it
Phantom........ not sure
Buzz................ her favorite ride even though the cast members tried to talk us out of going on in because of her age
Peter pan............she really didn't like this ride at all
Snow white........didnt do it after Peter pan
Pinocchio...... didnt like it
Star tours................ we only found out that she couldn't go on this ride at the "launch pad"
Dumbo....... didn't do
Carousel......... didnt do
Magic carpets........... she loved but this is the only ride she was able to do in the Studios apart from the tram tour which was shut.

Other things
Lion king........... couldnt get in
Princess Parade........she enjoyed it but the crowds were bad
Fantillusion...... she really enjoyed this parade
Wishes........ she sat on dads shoulders and really enjoyed it
Cinema parade............. she enjoyed this
Animagique............. she really liked this

We also really took advantage of the Baby swap. I was only once stopped from riding with Dad or Jude on the second go and that was because it was very busy.
The cast members on the rides, in the shops, in the restaurants and at the hotel were all really nice. No one stopped us from bringing Amber in with her pushchair and everyone made a fuss of her wherever we went.
And the baby changing rooms were brilliant.

Definatly botted! It's just not worth the risk of spoiling the hol by giving her tap water that will be different to what shes used to and may upset her system.

I am currently 8 mths pregnant and we were told at antenatal class last week to always boil tap water for bottles when away because of the high salt content found in bottled water. Maybe you should check this one out with your health visitor before you go.

I boiled bottled water for my daughter when we were on holiday in the UK when she was a few months old. It caused no problems at all. I had checked with the health visitor before we went though and there was 1 particular brand she recomended because the mineral levels were lower (can't remember which now). Obviously in France they'll have different makes but they will have the info on the labels.
I would be especially wary of tap water in France though because many of the locals wont drink it themselves and only use bottled.

If I remember rightly Evian was the brand we were recommended to use. We actually went round Tesco and compared the salt content on the labels of bottled water ourselves. I'm sure Evian must have done well, as that's the one we took to Disney plus we knew it was readily available in France!

It may be wise to have a look at the labels too, so you can find out the brand with the lowest salt content.

I have heard too that most locals resist drinking the tap water in France.

Hope this helps,

Sally :)

Thanks everyone for your replies. I knew about sodium in bottled water. I seem to remember using Evian with my daughter in Spain as it was lowest in sodium. My little travel kettle arrived from Amazon.co.uk yesterday so i am all set!!!!!!!

Thanks again!

Have you considered the cartons of ready-made formula?
We took this to WDW for the flight and is a lot easier, just a little more expensive.

We will take some ready made cartons with us. The problem is, Daniel drinks 6 oz each feed, the cartons are 9 oz and we don't know if we will have a fridge to store the excess. We usually put the cooled boiled water into the sterilised bottle and add the powder when we need it. This way we don't need a fridge.

We will take some cartons just in case though. They are handy.

Thanks for your reply.
