I am a teacher, so travel date options are slim for us. We want to take a trip this June with our 3 yo and a 6 month old. I am just wanting to hear some experiences shared from people who took a baby in the summer heat.... I probably will no longer be nursing at that time, which might make things a little easier.

its not too bad.. just plan to do rope drop and get rides in before the sun really kicks in.. take it slow.. there is air conditioning EVERYWHERE so just slide into any shop and take a breather.. there are also quiet rooms at each park to give the baby a break if needed. A good stroller that lays back for napping is a major plus.

at MK there is a splash pad as well to help make things bearable while there, its by Barnstormer and Dumbo.. oh yeah, Dumbo is awesome for taking a break with the kids. You go into a tent and there is a huge jungle gym area in the A/C for the kids to play at until its your turn to ride Dumbo, I think you can also stay in there as long as you like.. I know we did.

We took our then 4 month old last October and it was still warm. I was no longer breastfeeding so we filled bottles with water and took powder in one of those dispenser things. Put it all in a cooler with a small ice pack or frozen water bottle just to keep it cool. Mainly you'll just have to keep baby shaded and we even gave him water some times. It's not bad bc your in and out of shops and ride queues which are air conditioned. We bought our kids the Mickey fans that clip on the stroller and those helped:)

We have taken both our DDs starting with our 1st at 6 months, we did invest in a stroller that you could attach a bassinet to it:) So; between the bassinet, one of those keep cool towels and a Mickey fan, they were probably the most comfortable and coolest of anyone in the park:rotfl: Would sleep in the bassinet with no issues. Have a great trip.

Definitely stroller fans...amazon sells some great ones. I keep 2 on the stroller, I have found that the smaller ones with the foam blades work much better than the plastic bigger ones.

We took our now almost 3 year old for his 1st trip when he was 4 months old and he was super easy. IMO, breastfeeding makes it easier. Our 1st was formula fed and I can't imagine dealing with that on vacation. Not only is it healthier to nurse as long as possible, it's just easier. No bottles, formula, cleaning of bottles/nipples, bringing water for formula, extra puking, smelly formula pukey clothes, etc etc. Much easier to pull out the already made drink and nurse, lol. We went last April and this year we went in May and it was HOT! Stay hydrated. We brought an insulated bag and put ice in a gallon zip lock bag and put water and juice boxes in it...worked well. Taking a baby is easy. However, every baby is different. Good luck!

My child was 11 months for her first trip. We bought a great stroller that was breathable, super light weight and had a huge sun shield.... If a new stroller is in your budget - I totally recommend a maclaren. The other thing that we purchased was a new diaper bag that had a really large insulated compartment to keep things cold so there was always ice water available.

I also brought these single serving formula powders that you could make a bottle out of.... Those are great for traveling! I think entail makes them

Finally, find the baby care centers in each park. Great place for supplies and/ or place to feed the little ones / change diapers / cool down.

Also, I would recommend a day off for the resort pool. It's pretty exhausting and I find it helps the kids handle the excitement, heat, etc

We went in early June and the end of May with a 2 month old and barely 3 year old one year. The humidity often isn't terrible in early June yet, but it was hot. (Not nearly as bad as the Sept trip we took this year though!) The baby hung out in my sling the entire time. Having one of a thin material helped a lot. I was still nursing so it was easy to just nurse more frequently. We did not use the baby care centers as they were never close by to us when I needed one. I found the 3 year old was much, much harder to travel with than the 2 month old. (We had trips is cooler weather with an 8 month old and 3.5 year old and then a few years later with an 11 month old, 3.5 month old, and 6 year old And every single time, no matter which kid it was, the 3 year old was the most challenging).
