The family and I will be in Orlando for 10 days in September and I'd like to try out a sushi place in the area. Unfortunately, I'm the only one in my family that likes sushi! Is there a good sushi restaurant that will make me something to order that I can get to go? I'm not looking for grocery store deli-type sushi, but rather an actual restaurant that isn't *too* fancy (so I don't feel silly asking for take-out).

Thanks!

My son and some of our guests have used the one in Formosa Gardens market place. Sorry not sure the name.

I know you said that you did not want grocery store sushi but I did want to mention that Publix has actual sushi makers & their sushi is made fresh daily, the sushi makers stand next to the seafood case and make the sushi right in front of you. this might help out in a pinch if you cant find anything close by

We actually did try this at Publix on our last trip and couldn't find an actual employee to help us. Unfortunately, I have an avocado allergy and I don't trust any prepackaged sushi - especially on vacation!

At the Swan/Dolphin there is Kimono's. The last time we stayed there, we carried out sushi 4 times and brought it up to the room (kids were tired, so it was more convenient to order a movie and eat it in the room). My DH is asian, so kids love the rice and we all love sushi - I have to tell you that although not cheap, it is very high quality. They had no problem taking an order to go - so if you are in that area, that is an option. It's a smallish place, but the service is great. My friend actually took her kids there, ordered sushi for herself, and they brought kids' meals from another S/D restaurant for her kids to eat in the sushi bar. Very nice!

You could get sushi and take it to the boardwalk, eat it along there somewhere. They have a fun hot dog cart with yummy stuff for your friends, and a pizza take out window too. You could accomodate everyone.

I will definitely check that out - my husband has been asking to go to the Spoodles pizza window and I might suddenly be a little more tolerant of that idea! ;) Plus, I'm always up for a trip to the Boardwalk.

Not a sushi fan myself, but I have friends who love Tokyo Sushi, in the Publix shopping center at I-Drive and Apopka-Vineland Road (sort of across from the Premium Outlet Mall). A little hole-in-the-wall place, they specialize in take-out and I believe also deliver.

I definitely would AVOID any of the sushi places on 192. We've had serious cleanliness issues there, which is always a big concern when you're eating raw fish. I second the recommendation for Kimonos; they are quite good. You could also always do a place like California Grill and you eat sushi & everyone else eat something else.

Cheers!
