OK, I feel really tacky asking this and I would never do this at home, but here it goes.

In June I had the best tomato and mozzarella sandwich at the Boardwalk Bakery--it was like cold pizza on a sandwich. :thumbsup2 I loved the sandwich so much I requested it from Disney--it is now posted on the allears.net website. The sandwich just did not turn out as good when I made it.

My DH and I will be in DW for a short trip--one day at each park. My husband has not been to DW in at least 5 years. His only wish is to eat at ESPN and Le Cellier. No luck w/LC.

We are planning to do lunch at ESPN and dinner at Biergarten. I know this is really tacky, but I was thinking of asking ESPN if they would mind if I brought in a sandwich from the Boardwalk Bakery. Of course, I would order a soda and appetizer from ESPN and give an extra special tip. Opinions please. :confused3

Of course it's tacky. I'm sure everyone else will say do what you want, but it most certainly is tacky. You'll just have to determine whether that bothers you.

I agree with Anglefan. Would you take a Big Mac into Subway to eat? Not saying it CAN'T be done---but I sure would feel awkward doing it:confused3

NO...I don't think it's tacky. Its ESPN not the California Grill! I think that if you're very discrete and don't ask them to warm it up for you (j/k...now that would be tacky!!!) it would be just fine :goodvibes

I've actually brought subway into BK before when I was dieting so that hubby could eat his big mac!!!:rotfl: It's fast food for crying out loud! ;)

Why not get your sandwich and eat it first, while you hang out with your hubby on a bench by the lake, then go with your hubby to ESPN and order an appetizer or dessert to eat while your hubby eats lunch?

I don't think it is tacky unless we were talking about a "fine" restaurant. you are ordering an app. and drink so it isn't like you using their air for free.

Hey--that's a great idea. Why didn't I think of that! Thanks!

It probably sounds a little crazy, I just can't bear the thought of being right there and not getting that sandwich again. I stayed at the BC in June and actually had it three times--twice after not so great meals.

Is it tacky? I have no idea. I'm not Emily Post.

Would it ruin my dining experience if I was seated next to you? No. Because I shouldn't be paying enough attention to what unassuming people around me are doing to notice. And even if I DID notice I can promise you a tomato sandwich (unless dropped on my head or shoved down my pants) will not ruin my day.

Aside from the tacky question, don't most restaurants have rules about bringing in food from other places? I would think that might be the more problematic part.

But the solution of eating it outside is certainly a workable one.

:cutie: Just do it..It will you make you happy..Its your vacation. Just let your server know that you couldn't stop thinking about it....I think its fine.

Taking a sandwich you really like into ESPN?

Not tacky.

ESPN is not a high-concept dining venue. It's a gussied-up sports bar. I doubt the staff will care, especially if you order a drink and and maybe side of fries.

Now, bringing it in to Le Cellier or Victoria & Albert's? That's on the tacky side.

Why not just do one after the other? Have your sandwich and enjoy the Boardwalk together, then go to ESPN and get whatever you want while he gets his meal.

This was going to be my suggestion. I might understand if you were a picky 5 yr old that wouldn't touch anything on the menu but you are an adult. My kids aren't picky, thankfully, but I wouldn't cater to them either. They'd eat what was available and if they didn't want anything then I would get them something after dinner somewhere else.

I think this is the best solution to the problem! :thumbsup2

Unless it were a finer dining establishment, I don't see it as a problem if you're going to be ordering other foods as well.

You could do it. You might get away with it. The staff at ESPN probably isn't going to care and your fellow diners probably aren't going to care. None of that changes the fact that it is 100% a tacky thing to do.
