I come to check in by iPhone from work and see Happy Heart Farting Pooh has taken a hopefully temporary leave of absence. Kimmar, find Smiley a diva pooh in your bucket.....

Do any of you use Wi-Fi on a laptop?? I have some questions and need to pick someone's brain.

Not literally, of course, because that would be gross. Or, as Mr. Depp a la Willy Wonka would say, "...even I'm 'eat-able', but that is called 'cannibalism', my dear children, and is in fact frowned upon in most societies."

Sorry can't help with your wi fi question.

Here are a few Pooh's I found that may be a good replacement for Happy Heart Farting Pooh.

I can try to help. Just put the spoon down. And your crazed chimpanzee.

I'm trying to figure out exactly how it works, compared to a line-based connection.

For example, here at home I connect to the Internet via my phone company and a DSL modem. I pay them so much per month for access.

So, if you have a laptop and wi-fi, and say I'm out and about and go a cafe or a hotel that offers free wi-fi. How am I connecting?? Do I just click open Internet Explorer and *poof*!?

I guess I can't wrap my brain around Internet service without a line and without that monthly access fee.:confused3

Oh, and I'm wondering because I'm buying a laptop off a friend of DH; it doesn't currently have the wireless equipment, but I can get it.

I am currently sitting in my bedroom on my laptop. My modem and wireless router are in my office. I pay a monthly fee for my internet service, just like you do. But thanks to my wireless router attached to my modem, I can go mobile in my house.

I also can go to Starbucks (or other places with free wi-fi, like Panera) and do the same. It uses their internet account. That's why many places now limit how long you can sit and enjoy the free wi-fi. It's not exactly hit IE and *poof*. Most places have a log-in to access their internet.

Hope that helps!

I have two children with the flu today. So, I guess I'll be wiping noses, cleaning house, doing laundry, and updating my PTR today.

Well, gotta put things in perspective.

SadieDog - Here's the site that explains ADD/ADHD in terms of Pooh characters.

 ......my DS12 is Winnie-the-Pooh!!!.....

What an interesting bit of info! I love it! We have long suspected ADD in him; have not had him "tested" yet but I should probably contact his physician and get a recommendation on a specialist. His best friend is classic "Tigger" and is on meds for it, so DS12 doesn't have a negative association to ADD/ADHD, which is good.

So our idiotic school district superintendent did NOT make the 2-hour delay call today, despite the fact that it's snowing heavy, wet snow out there. He needs to wake up and smell the coffee (the nice way to put it here on a family board....;) ) and realize that this district is made up of NINE towns, and the small towns out on the fringe have lots of small, narrow dirt roads, never mind that our town plow truck (we have exactly ONE) hasn't been by in hours....:sad2: This guy needs to go back to MA where one town = one district. He's sacrificing safety for the sake of numbers now, since that ice storm cut such a chunk out of the allowable days-off per year. DH is furious and not taking the kids to school until the roads are SAFE to drive on.

Cannot wait to get out of here......:headache:

So that's how my day is starting!! Oh, can I say that I actually enjoyed last night's AI much better than the last?! Maybe because it wasn't so long and drawn out. I really like the three that were picked last night, esp. the second guy, the big dude (sorry, I'm still not up on my names!).
