It was yummy but I'll be playing the pantie flute all night long!

Hey, pull my finger.

That was my first thought after I read about all those eggs. :rotfl2: My friend's DD6 loves the smell of egg toots. Strange child. :scared:

I'm back.

It's cold.

I cried on the plane as we took off and flew over Tampa Bay...

I missed my family but that is absolutely it.

OH!...the surprise party for my dad was a hit and he was a riot. When we got to the room where it was being held, he peeked in and saw all these people sitting at decorated tables. Instantly they yelled "SURPRISE!" and the look of total confusion on his face was priceless!!....he looked at his wife with the "What am I missing?" look and then she said "This is for your 80th birthday!" to which he replied, "You're in big trouble!" He doesn't really like surprises but he handled this very well and I think even he would admit that he had a great time.

And I'm glad I was able to be there for this.:goodvibes

Mean Queen I got spoiled on Starbucks this weekend.....It really stinks that I don't have any near me up here! By the way what was it that you had again?.....Cappa-frappa-something-or-other with a shot of peppermint?!!? I want that next time!:rotfl:

.

I'm so glad the party went well! I bet he was surprised. The drink I had was the Espresso Truffle with Peppermint. It's one of their winter specialty drinks, so it may not be around the next time you go. If not, then I'd order the black and white peppermint mocha. It's not on the menu, but they always have the regular and white chocolate. :coffee:

Good morning ya'll. :goodvibes

Picture this- my hubs gets home at 10pm from work, the kids and I are laughing hysterically all sitting on my bed. He walks toward the bedroom and we start laughing even harder. as he hits the doorway *something hits him. Let's just say my son is strong with the force :darth: I had to RUN :crazy2:

You know what they say...You shouldn't put all your eggs in one basket. :rotfl:

I thought you guys might enjoy a few photos of my weekend (esp. SadieDog who is also suffering this miserable weather right now...!).

This is an old general store from Heritage Village. We went there Friday afternoon and walked all over the grounds. SO nice....

Another restored building at the Village...

Winter09146.jpg

Looking through the old barn...

Winter09147.jpg

An old cabin - I think the interpreter said it's the oldest building in Florida?? A man with ELEVEN children lived in this house....:crowded:

Winter09150.jpg

A shot from downtown St. Petersburg; we went there Saturday and Sunday to walk around and see everything that was going on...

Winter09153.jpg

A view of the Bay near the Sunshine Skyway Bridge (not the one in the pic)...

Winter09154.jpg

Replica of the HMS "Bounty" docked up at the St. Pete pier....really cool ship but I can't for the life of me understand how ANY one ever figures out all that rigging!!...

Winter09176.jpg

And finally, a nice panorama of downtown St. Petersburg from the top of the Pier!...

Your pictures remind me what a beautiful city I live in. :flower3: Here's a link to the city webcam I told you about, it gives you a view of the pier you took the picture from: http://www.stpete.org/webcam/

QUOTE]

Sorry I haven't been on in a while, but when Mean Queen typed that, I just had to say, "That's Gross!" :lmao:

Things have been really busy, my grandma got in a serious car accident and is still in the hospital, so we've been down there.

I hope your grandmother gets well soon. That has to be very rough on your family.

Well, all things considered, she's doing really well. she broke her ankle and wrist and had some slight bleeding on her brain. But she's getting around really well with a walker. Hopefully she'll be going home tomorrow or wednesday.

Legomom: Those are beautiful pictures! I would love to visit St. Pete sometime, but it'll be after a return visit to St. Augustine. I think when we go down in December, we will have to stop over in St. Augustine first.

belledreamer: I am so sorry about your grandmother's accident. I hope she continues to recover well.

Hi everyone. :flower3:

belledreamer...I'm so sorry to hear about your Grandma. I'm really glad that she seems to be recovering. Hopefully life will settle down for you.

LegoMom...Thanks for sharing the pictures. St Petersburg is beautiful.

Mean Queen...You do live in a beautiful city. Do you ever get to enjoy it as a tourist?

creativeamanda...I hope you have had a good day.

Cool....thanks!! :goodvibes Definitely going to check it out tomorrow. I wish I'd had my camera handy when we took off today.....the view of the Bay was truly stunning and the water was an amazing aqua-teal color.

Be sure to go visit the lighthouse....:rolleyes1 Haunted, don'tcha know...! BEST episode EVER of "Ghost Hunters" was up in that lighthouse.

But don't worry, no clowns....:lmao:

Thanks to my job, I do. I work for the city government TV station. It's part of the marketing department, so we are always trying to highlight the beauty of our city. I just finished putting together a new show for senior citizens today that will involve a day trip to somewhere in the city. There are places I've never been, and I grew up here. :confused3

Thanks. :flower3: I'm sure she will. She gets around better than most fourty-year olds, so I'm sure she'll be fine.

I'm glad to hear that. My grandmother is a tough cookie, too, so I understand how your grandma is. ;)

creativeamanda...I hope you have had a good day.

Thanks. I can't complain about yesterday. . .Today I'll be spending most of the day working on the written commentary for National Boards, although I do have to go to the kids' school to sit beside my 6 year old and figure out why she's being such a pain for her teacher.

Well, if there are no clowns, it's all right. :rotfl:

Your city sounds awesome. As does your job.

Hope everyone has a great Tuesday. I'll be popping in and out as I get tired of watching this video I made yesterday and reading about what I have to type next.

Good morning everyone. Still below zero here and storm coming tomorrow. I hope it's not a snowday b/c I want to work at daycare in the morning. She doesn't need me on snowdays b/c her daughter is home to help.

Belledreamer, wishing your grandmother well.

Liann, my son has a strong force too. :rotfl2:

LegoMom, LOVE the pictures. Beautiful and it looks so WARM. I'd say you made your Dad very happy.

And pretty soon I may have to go to school with my 13 year old and figure out why he is such a lazy unmotivated piece of crap. :rotfl2: Good luck with your daughter.

Sup, ya'll?

Great pics LegoMom. I think it's so awesome you and Mean Queen got to meet. :thumbsup2

I have never heard the term playing the pantie flute. Now that I have I will never forget it.
:rotfl:

Hi ya! Welcome to the thread. :wave2:

It's official - we're headed back to Vegas. Flying Southwest - first time with the airline. Their rates are about the same as others but no charge for checked luggage saving a minimum of sixty bucks round trip. I'm a little worried about their boarding procedure but from what I've been told as long as we check-in 24 hours prior shouldn't be a problem. Anyone flown with them recently? Any advice?

.......

Sorry I'm just catching up on the weekend chatter! The couple of times I popped in it was just for a quick post.

SO!....yes, I can tell you pretty much anything you want to know about Southwest, as I fly them exclusively. And as a matter of fact yes, I did fly with them recently!....:rotfl:

Ok, the check-in deal is this: get on your computer about 10 minutes before your 24-hour window, pull up the "Check-In Online" screen and fill in the reservation number and name. Watch your clock and at exactly the time, start clicking the check-in button. I actually open 2 or 3 tabs on my browser, all with the same info, so that if I'm ahead of their clock by a bit and I get the "error" message that it's too soon, I just go to the next tab and try again. It saves having to hit your browser's back button and re-do the info again. Every second counts!!

Now then, once you've successfully checked-in online, you can then print your boarding passes. And as long as you are doing your check-in right at that 24-hr. mark, you will get "A" seating, followed by a number. All the numbers do is reserve your place in line for the "A" boarding. Prior to them assigning numbers, everyone with an "A" would get to the gate and herd like cattle to try to be among the first to board. They have numbered columns right there now, and you just line up at the column that corresponds to your number. If it sounds confusing (it really isn't) you can get a little tutorial video on the Southwest web site.

I have flown Southwest numerous times and never had a problem with getting an "A" and subsequently getting a good seat. They do an amazing job as an airline and if you've got an outgoing pilot, you'll get some humor tossed in with the same-old-same-old in terms of announcements and such. For instance, when I left Tampa yesterday, our pilot was really razzing us all over not being able to figure out WHY in the world we wanted to leave the nice warm weather and go to Manchester where it was only 1 degree! It was funny.

And pretty soon I may have to go to school with my 13 year old and figure out why he is such a lazy unmotivated piece of crap. :rotfl2: Good luck with your daughter.

It must be that time. I just had a meeting with DD's 3 teachers. I just sat down and told them I already know what you're going to say. She's extremely smart, horrible socially, can't focus to save her life, and has really bad handwriting. She's been this way her whole life, she has got better but still needs a lot of help and guidance. 2 of the three really seem willing to work with her. The third just seems to have labeled DD a problem child and wants to wipe her hands of DD. :sad2: So, yet again, I had a talk with DD that she will promptly ignore the first time she perceives a friend has wronged her. :crazy2:

Oh, that is not easy. Hope it gets better. :grouphug: Believe me, I know all about daughters with issues. My son is lazy, unmotivated and doesn't seem to care if he fails or not, but he is very social. In fact, the only part about school he likes is the social part.
