My DS 13 competed last night in only his 2nd tournament and did great!! He was the lowest rank in his division at Sr Brown belt and took a 2nd in sparring, 3rd in forms and then in the teen/adult division against 9 black belts he took a bronze medal in board breaking!! He was shocked when they called his name since he only broke 3 boards in 3 stations while the others were breaking 2 at a time, doing flips and one broke 7 stacked high. He placed because although they scored higher then he did they had points deducted when a board didn't break and that medaled my son.
The BEST part is that after the tournament the Director approached my son and handed him an invitation to compete in a National Tournament being held in DISNEY WORLD!!! DS was shocked beyond belief and I was doing the happy dance. Well I wasted no time and called the Hilton in DTD since that is where the tournament will be held to get their "special" pricing. Well "special" is only for the night before the tournament and the night of and it's $149.00 per night and then jumps to $220.00. This is over Martin Luther King weekend, figured we'd make a long weekend and stay 3 nights. Anyway I told reservations thank you and hung up. I then called Disney Travel, told them what the Hilton told me and after checking I got an AP rate of $49 at POP. I was surprised since my dates were blackouts but I got them anyway. So guess I have to make another coutdown clock cause we are heading to WDW to compete!!!!
So is anyone elses child competing in the National Tournament January 15th???
