Taco Flavored Doritos

I was in the grocery store yesterday & saw Taco Flavored Doritos! I haven't seen these in years! They are in a gold, orange & brown bag with a sombrero on the bag. And the reason it is "budget board" worthy is because they were $4 a bag & I wouldn't pay that much! I'd love to have some, but hoping they go on sale before they disappear! I refuse to pay $4 for a bag of chips! Yeah, I'm cheap!

Does anyone else remember these?

Don't know about the Taco flavor, but I LOVE the Cheeseburger flavor! The first time I tried one I immediately thought of a McDonald's cheeseburger. You could taste the bun, pickle...everything! I love them.

Will definitely have to watch for a sale on the Taco ones and try them out!

Hmm... Market Basket here in Massachusetts has Doritos at the budget price of only $2 per bag. I wonder if they have this variety. Guess I'm going to have to leave for work early today...

I have been telling my kids for years that this was the best flavor. I was a kid when Doritos first came out. We were in a Sheetz gas station on our way to the airport and I saw them. I was so excited I bought two bags at .99 and I have been searching lots of places for the larger bags but haven''t had any luck. Look for some coupons and stock up!

Target and Kroger have them on sale this week - I think I paid $2.00 a bag - I was so excited to see them - I have not tried them yet - hope they are as good as I remember!

Yes, I remember these as being my favorite, even better than Nacho Cheese, which is my go-to flavor. I haven't seen them in forever & doubt my DS (19) has ever tasted them. I'll have to check other stores in the area to see if they have them on sale if I happen to be near them. Wouldn't be too budget to drive to 5 stores to save a buck or two! I really don't need to stock up though because I don't NEED them! Trying to lose weight & stocking up on Doritos don't go together.

Love the Taco Flavor! My Mom has been using them since the 1970's to make a great Taco Salad. Seems like in the last several years, they go away for a while and then they come back. Here, we have had them back on the shelf in some stores for around a year, but they are called "Tacos at Midnight" and they come in a black bag.

They are the best flavor!!!! I got them at Target fir $2 last week.

The tacos at midnight flavor is different from the taco ones the original poster is describing. the one the op is talking about are a 'throwback' flavor. They have them really cheap at the super walmarts. Though i just got them buy one get one with the other flavors of doritos at the local grocery store. But yea, I agree with the OP I about went ape when I saw them bc it totally took me back to my childhood!

You may be in luck. My bag had a COMING SOON on the back with the new packaging for the same flavor so maybe the flavor will be sticking around. I think the *Throwback* was not only the flavor but the old style packaging. Just like Pepsi is doing right now with their Throwback (real sugar!) sodas.

At our grocery store the other day they had a Doritos display that showed a picture of the Taco throwback Doritos but they didn't have any. I thought it was just part of the advertisment. Now I'm on a mission to find them.

Wish we weren't snowed in - Want to go to Walmart and Target to try to find them. These were my favorite when I was little.

I was thinking of trying these...I didn't know they were old school! FYI, Doritos are $1.97 at Walgreens this week so maybe they can be found there. Otherwise you can price match them for $1.97 at Walmart if they have them there.

OMG!! The "Original" Taco flavored doritos were my favorite as a kid!! My brothers and I used to dig through the bag looking for the chips with the most flavoring on them I got so excited when I saw the Tacos at midnight and Taco supreme flavors they came out with thinking they would be the same, but they weren't! So I MUST go find these chips and see if the flavor is the same as I remember!!

My mom would make a taco salad and crush the taco flavored doritos to sprinkle on top. SO YUMMY!!

May have to run to the store looking for a bag. And yes, I'd pay $4 a bag (for old times sake).

Sams Club has some too. I bought them last week. They are the giant bags that are 2 for 5.99. Not too bad of a price for the big bag.

My kids loved them too & now I'll have to get more!!

I bought them and they are not as good as I remembered. I used to love them as a kid but they just didn't taste like I remembered. I HATED the tacos at midnight flavor, all you could taste was lettuce. They are taco flavored but just not worth it to me.
