Tables in Wonderland

Has anyone purchased Tables in Wonderland and if so what are your opinons?

I have and I loved it. I am not into the ddp. But I am into ts. I prefer to relax and have a nice meal, and if I decide I want an app and dessert great, or if I want only an entree that is fine to. Not to mention alcohol is included and the tip is auto included as well. 18%, I usually tip 20 so that doesn't bother me either..I plan to get it again next time we go.

We have enrolled several times, even back when it was the DDE (Disney Dining Experience). We have done the DDP a few times, but find that the way we travel and eat this is a much better savings for us. It usually pays for itself after just a handful of TS meals. If you're unsure, it might be worth it to go through a little cost analysis of where you might eat, roughly what you would order, how many people are in your party, and how many days (during the year) that you would be using the card. We are a party of 3 (2 adults and 1 child) and we figure that our TS meals are ROUGHLY $80-$100 (of course depends on where we go, but this is a very general average for us), so using rough math, we figure that we will break even at around 5-6 meals. Since we travel to WDW usually 2-3x a year, it will be savings for us.

We used DP one year just to try, and we had older teens that we could just let them do their own thing on some days.

We purchased TIW for our most recent trip (just 2 travelers) and really enjoyed it. Probably broke even with the trip if not close, plus we will be going back for XMAS with a larger group, and possibly next Easter. I really like the alcohol being discounted, not big drinkers but it helps with the value of the plan. Plus it encouraged us on some beer flights, and other drink flights offered.

I am definitely a fan, :cheer2: PLUS if you have a car, free Valet at resorts for your restaurant reservations, which helped when we were running close or it was raining (we did tip the valet which is appropriate)

We have TIW and absolutely love it! For the type of dining we do at Disney, TIW just makes more sense. I would say that if you know you are going to eat 3+ meals a day, DDP might be a better option. However, if you are like us and only really eat one big meal a day with a couple of snacks during the day to tide you over, TIW is the way to go. You may also want to look into the QS DDP, something we are actually doing on our upcoming trip in conjunction with TIW for big meals.

We are going for only four days and doing 3 TS's. Not sure if TIW is for us or not as we might just break even between the meals and the discount. ADRs are at: Yachtsman, England and Raglan Road. Any opinions????

Question - if I get it in my name, can my husband take it to the countries in Epcot or by the pool and use it?

Thanks

We've done both and love the flexibility of the TiW card hands down.

It works for us as our kids (13 and 12) don't eat like adults but as soon as they hit 10 Disney charges you adult prices for the DDP.
They can order whatever they want (even off the kids menu) and we still save the 20%.

It expires one year and at least one month after you purchase.
Example: If you purchase in April 2013, it would expire at the end of May 2014.

The breakeven point would be $500 if you're a DVC member or AP holder as the card is $100 to purchase. If you think your dinners will add up to that or you'll spend that amount through the course of the year then yes it's worth it to get the free valet at least.

The card can only be used by the person who's name appears on it. They can be really strict about this depending on the cast member.
You can purchase a card for your husband for $50.

We usually purchase the TIW card for our trips.

We will get one for this August trip and use it again in December and next May. It will be worth it.

We always get the card in my Husband's name, since he will go out to the resort bar with nephew upon returning from the parks.

Definitely worth it for us.

I think it is a great deal for those who like to eat 1 TS per day. We estimate we will save about $200 in one trip. I also like that the tip is automatically included saves me stressing about it as i don't come from a tipping culture.

After using DDP for a couple of trips and tracking our expenses on a couple more with TIW, we find we save more than $200-250 a trip using TIW over doing the DDP.

I'm another one that thinks DDP is a racket! It has ruined fine dining at Disney and made everything cookie cutter.

If you do purchase a card for your hubby, then you have to figure another $200+ in purchases to then break even with his card. In general, for our needs, the TiW card is far superior to the dining plans.

The Disney Dining Plan probably makes financial sense for less than 10% of visitors to the park. Most people who buy it are uninformed consumers, or they simply like the idea of the food APPEARING to be free (since it is pre-paid).

We are going to be spending nearly 3 weeks on Disney Property this year. For us, the TIW card makes complete sense.

My only "issue", and it just is something I have to get more organized with, is knowing when to use each type of discount (premium annual pass, DVC or TIW), as some restaurants offer discounts for one and not the others.

I hear ya with knowing what discount to use. I bookmarked allears pages for this year for use on which discount to use.

tablesinwonderland.com is an official website with a lovely listing of all the places it can be used. Including the counter services where it can be used (so many people think it's only a "few", or even none at all, but I'm always pleased at the selection, personally).

No, your husband cannot use the card in your name.

Are you not going back inside of a year's time? If not, check your restaurants against the tablesinwonderland listing of restaurants, find the menus and see what might appeal to your family (on wdwinfo.com or allears.net) and see if you will be reaching the point where getting the card makes sense.
