ok, $50 for the extra card....why the need for an extra card? is it the same as the DDE - need the extra card for an additional diners after 6 people, and in case you are seperated at the parks? or what other reasons for an extra card?

Yes it is the same as the DDE card.I have had up to7 people in my party and it still worked as I think it is now a 10person limit for a 20% discount, with the automatic 18% tip added to your check.A second card is not in our plans but if you go seperately or split up at the parks, you may want another card:confused3

The maximum diners in now 10 per card. I don't think having a second card would change that number. The only reason I can think of is if you plan to split up and eat. We did not get the second card and we were fine.

I thought it has always been 10 diners.:confused3

Anyway, the second card for a spouse/so in the same household used to be free. Apparently there was too much abuse so now there's a charge. When the charge for the second card was reasonable, we still bought it as sometimes one of us arrives or leaves FL before the other. Sometime the guys golf and have lunch while my DD and I do other things and have lunch. Two cards was nice but not at $50.

I would imagine that a number of the customers who use TIW might be locals or living within driving distance, and the cardholder's spouse may actually come to WDW without the cardholder on a regular basis if that is so.

I would think so, too. DDE/TiW was originally open only to FL residents.

It is a true shame that people who cheated the system have ruined it for everyone.

thanks all...we'll only need one then, pretty much like dde from what I am now reading.

Just don't lose it, as it costs $50 to replace it. I left ours in Jiko's one evening, checked with hotels services, etc., no luck, so I had to spend $50 just for a replacement card.

Jiko might be the Bermuda Triangle for TIW cards - that's where I lost my first one, too! Luckily that's back when it was just $25 for a replacement card. I took the CM's advice and got the replacement in my husband's name just in case mine showed up after all. (it didn't)

If you are a frequent visitor (1-2 times per year) and you lose your card, think carefully about the $50 replacement - it might be better to just shell out $25 more and get a whole new use year for the money.

I have had them ask to see the room key when at a resort and even a photo ID to prove it is mine.
