Ok heres the deal...My brother is a Florida state resident and can a TIW discount card...can i use it for my trip if hes not there OR can i give him 50 bucks and have him get one in my name for me and my spouse to use (up to 10 ppl) How much information do they need? Can i get one using his address? If i have some mail with my name delivered to him (magizines etc) can i get my own? I am not an AP holder but was just wondering...

Technically speaking you can not use the card unless he is there. I've had the card in the past, and I was always the one to pay. I always used a credit card, so the card matched the name on the credit card. If I would've paid cash, I'm not sure how that would've been handled.

If you are not a FL resident, you need to be an AP holder to purchase the TIW card. They may ask to see your proof of eligibility to use the card. Your brother can't get one in your name, only his name. He'd need a driver's license or utility bills (there may be other forms of ID approved) from FL with your name on them to get FL resident card.

A FL resident will pay $100 for the card. AP holder will pay $75.

You won't be able to use your brother's card. When/if the server asks for your ID (I have been asked before when I use my card) your name won't match your brother's card.

we just got back a week ago and used our TIW card everyday and were never asked for ID . It was us though really using it LOL . I did use it when my DH was away from us and I didnt have any trouble . One of us seemed to be missing at bill time becuase of our Grandchild maybe they just felt sorry for us :rotfl:

Just curious...how did you pay? I noticed that when I used my KTTW card, I was not asked for my ID. When I paid with cash is when I would have to show my photo ID.

I always paid cash with my TIW card. I was asked for my drivers license about 10% of the time.

OP, beware this may turn into a hot topic when the Moral police show up and tell you how you are cheating Disney doing this so be prepared.

I have a question regarding purchasing a TIW card. DSis and I are both AP holders but do not reside at the same address. We would both like to get a card and would like to save the $25 if it is allowed.

What are the requirements for purchasing the second card for spouse or partner? I assume they mean your significant other residing at the same address, but I wasn't sure if this was exactly how it is handled or if any other situations are allowed.

Would I be able to purchase the card for myself and the second card for DSis (the one at the reduced rate)?

I've been asked for ID. Once, at ASMU, I was even paying with my KTTW card and the cashier made me dig out my DL. She compared my TIW card to my DL and seemed satisfied, but she made such a big deal of it, she forgot to give me the discount!

OP, if I were you I wouldn't try this. They are supposed to check ID and some do.

They didn't allow my husband to use my card, when I took our DD to the bathroom. He was going attempting to charge it to his KTTW card. Had to wait till I got back to pay the bill.

You cannot use his card. On our last trip about 75% of the time they checked my ID. They even did it when my name on my room ID matched my TIW card.

I believe he can add others to his card. I am not sure what the fee is and if you have to reside in the same household.

We only have one card in my name.

I saw on another thread that the extra person on the card has to share the same address as the first card holder.

I wouldn't call it moral policing to say that they do sometimes ask for ID on the cardholder. If they find the cardholder is not present, the discount won't be applied.

You won't be able to buy one yourself if you dont' fit the membership criteria and your brother won't be able to request one for you unless you share an address with him.

We paid cash most of the time but my DH says that a few times he charged it back to the room .

When we shopped at WOD they asked me each and everytime for ID with my season pass discount . I thought it was my DVC card that got me the discount, so I had it out and ready when she was finished ringing me up . LOL but the nice CM said " that is super cool that you own DVC but do you have a AP ?" It was funny. But that is the only time we were asked for ID . Now that I think about it we were not asked many times for ID when we were charging back to the room . :confused3 that is not good

Kind of sort of related question- my Dad has a TiW card, and will be with us on our next trip. However, I would still like to cover the cost of the meals, minus his discount. Does this mean we have to carry enough cash for all our meals, or as long as he is there and has his ID, can we use our credit card to actually cover the bill?

I thought I had read that you could do so as long as the TiW cardholder is present. I would like to know the answer to this as well if this is not the case. Thanks!

We have a TIW card and when dining with another couple we were able to use the TIW to discount the entire bill and then split how we paid. In other words, if the bill totalled $100.00, we could put $50 on our credit card and the other couple could put $50 on theirs (or cash, whatever they wanted).

What you could not do, was have the check split before paying.

Thanks samsam. I was worried about trying to carry cash around the parks. Actually, you're helping because if we could get the check split, my Dad would try to, and we really feel we should pay for his meals as it's a family trip and he's part of our family.- I just won't mention there might be a way around it.
