Have you heard? "Tables in Wonderland" is the new name for the Disney Dining Experience. Seems that there have been confusion with other dining programs (perhaps Disney Dining Plan) so Disney will rename the Disney Dining Experience to Tables in Wonderland as of September 15, 2008.

Okay, I get the reason for the new name but Tables in Wonderland is a little weak, don't you think?

Totally agree! I got the e-mail and I'm thinking....WHAT!!!! Tables in Wonderland! Sounds way too foo-foo for me.

Just when I thought I had everything down pat DDE - (easy to type) TIW?! or is it TiW, or TiWl

Grrrrr, also will the cast members be updated or will you get a blank look when you ask for it at first:confused:

Looks like I'll have to purchase the AP's with Tables in Wonderland as
1. DH won't remember that and
2. DH won't say that :rotfl:

I sorta like it! I'm a big Wonderland fan myself so I would LOVE to dine in Wonderland ... if the Mad Hatter and Dormouse are there.

Perhaps we should have an award for the lamest name change of the year.

Tables in Wonderland might win.

Will there be a picture of Alice or the Mad Hatter on the card? :dance3:

Dorky Disney.......

where are all those brilliant writing imagineers - the ones who have come up with all the clever scripts and wording in the parks over the years.....
the best they could come up with is tables in wonderland????....
scary...

How about we just call it the F U N plan.

For %ucked up name. :rotfl2:

I posted a reply in a similar thread in the Restaurants board about how lame the name was. I suggested that they make the DDP change its name to the Magical Meal Plan or something and leave the DDE name alone.

Of course, now that Disney is afraid of our litigious natures as Americans, they wouldn't do that. I'm not litigious by nature, so I hereby release all rights to that name and would GLADLY allow Disney to use MMP to replace the DDP name.

Still ain't gonna happen. Heh.

I don't know Kathy -- giving the most anticipated DVC resort ever the acronym of a sandwich is right up there too! :thumbsup2

Now that's an interesting combination - Tables in Wonderland at BLT... These seems like name change for the sake of change.

Stupid name yes but I can see why. Last December we went with a group of 12 on the Dining plan and did the Candlelight Processional package at Biergarten. The waitress brought our checks when I was away from the table and my father said that they didn't take the dining plan on the package. I knew this was wrong and checked with the waitress myself and she reiterated the same to me. I asked to talk to the manager and when I told him what happened he agreed with me that we could use the Dining Plan and the waitress must have thought we were referring to the DDE.

He then told us that it happens quite often actually and that they were pushing for them to change the name to avoid confusion - so it looks like it came to pass.

I posted the original message on the Restaurants board...and I agree its a "dorky" name. They could have made it a bit less dorky if they called it "Dining in Wonderland". It is, after all, about DINING, not TABLES, which we all know the card doesn't get us...

It definitely caused confusion, but I always found it the other way around. "Are you on the Dining Plan?" "No, but I have the Dining Experience card." "Uhhh...I'll need to see all your room cards." "No, you don't..."

Are you poking fun at my accent? :lmao:

This has been stuck for several days in my head, so I just have to get it out...

"It's dork."

"Dork?"

"Yes, dork."

"I don't understand..."

"Dork. DORK. Not laaaaht. Dork."

"Oh, you mean DARK!"

"Yes, you dork."

There. Now maybe I can get some work done.
