Anyone know what the membership terms are on Tables in Wonderland? I have an annual pass that expires in December. My husband and I are taking a trip to the World next week. We will be buying him an annual pass.

Does the Tables card have to be linked to an Annual Pass?
Does it expire when the pass expires?
Can it be purchased prorated if pass is expiring soon?
If husband holds Tables card in his ame, can I use it on trips when he is not with me?

Is not linked to your annual pass, has its own expiration date, no prorated purchase, and I believe so, but not sure. Wife has used mine when I wasn't there, but not sure if that applies all the time or if we just got lucky.

You have to have a valid ap to buy the tiw card, but they do not have to be valid the same amount of time. In fact, the tiw card is usually valid for 13 months. I believe that the person whose name is on the card is supposed to be there. They sell spouse cards for an additional fee (not full price).

If you are not a Florida resident then you do need to have an active Annual Pass when you purchase the TiW card. But you can purchase it at any time while your pass is active (even if it is expiring soon). And it is not "linked" to the AP, you just have to have one.
Your TiW card will have its own expiration date 12-13 months from the purchase date.
Technically, the only person who can use the card is the person whose name is on the card. That's why they sell an additional "spouse" card. We usually travel together, but we seem to alternate who gets the TiW card. There have been a couple of times where I have kept DH's card on a solo trip. Most of the time it was honored, but they are not obligated to accept it.
If you are more likely to travel alone- get the card in your name instead, while your AP is still active. It will expire at the same time no matter which one of you buys the card.

We love Tables in Wonderland!!
>>No it does not, although you need to be either a AP holder or A DVC member to purchase a card.

>> not prorated and has its own purchase & expiration date

>>technically no it has one person's name on it and can only be used by that person so if you are alone and they refuse it don't be surprised

1. TiW membership cards can be sold to Florida Residents, Annual Passholders, or DVC Members.

2. When sold, it is normally valid for the remainder of the current month plus 13 full months.

3. It can be sold to a passholder on the last day of validity of the AP and will expire based on #2 above.

4. A spouse card, with the same expiration date, can be purchased for $50 at any time while the TiW Membership is valid, but it will not be prorated.

5. The person whose name is printed on the card must be present for the card to be used, but the cardholder does not have to be the person making payment.

6. Although the discount may be applied to only one check at a time, some locations may allow multiple forms of payment on the one check.

So glad to read this post! I had pretty much the same question~my AP expired, but my TIW card is still valid, date-wise. We are just going for a short 5 day stint this go-round, so it doesn't make sense to get a new AP this trip. Thanks for the heads-up!

Just stumbled upon this thread and asked questions about this on another post, but I am wondering if purchasing a TiW card will be worth it. We're staying 5 nights/ 6 days in January (me, DH, and toddler DS). We're FL residents and plan on getting FL seasonal passes. The January trip we have booked 3 ADR - one for Jiko, one for Mama Melrose's w/ Fantasmic seating, and Crystal Palace character breakfast. Obviously, we will be dining at more than these places during our stay. Some quick calculations estimate that having the TiW card will save approximately $55 for these ADRs alone.

Since we will be passholders and plan on returning throughout the year, does it seem like a good idea to spend the $75 up front and get a TiW card? I noticed the passholder discounts aren't as generous as they have been previous years.

Anyone have any experience with the TiW card who can offer some advice?

I was given a hard time several times when I used the TIW card at Beaches and Cream, because the manager interpreted "non-transferable" to mean that the owner of the card had to be the one paying the bill. (My brother and I would take turns paying for lunch.) However, I believe the language in 2012 is such that that IS the case now: http://tablesinwonderland.com/

The Tables in Wonderland discount is good for up to 10 people, as long as everyone is on the same check, and the Tables in Wonderland member is paying the bill. If you have the Tables in Wonderland card, and your spouse has the Tables in Wonderland secondary card, together you may cover up to 20 people. Both members must live at the same address and be 21 years of age or older.

I believe the sentence about the TIW member paying the bill is new in 2012.

I don't doubt that you were given a hard time at one restaurant, but we have used my TiW card on 3 trips (so far) in 2012 and my husband always pays the bill. No one has even batted an eye.
(but we have not dined at Beaches and Cream... so maybe their rules are different? :confused3)

Just another example of Disney rules not being applied in the same way at all locations. :rolleyes2
