Help! I'm trying to decide if TIW might be better for us than the dining plan. I know you get 20% off at table service including alcohol. Is there a discount on counter service restaurants as well?
I'd be able to use it for a couple of trips, so I think it would be worth the money. We are a party of 5(all disney adults) and will be traveling with friends too(party of 4).

A few CS in AK, Values and POFQ give 20% off with the card. It might be worth it with 9 using the card. You do have to have it all on 1 bill though.

You will automatically be charged 18% gratuity when you use your card as well. you can use it in conjunction with the Dining Plan--you get the discount off anything not covered by the plan.

I find it more flexible for the way I eat and drink at Disney. You will either need to be a Florida resident or an AP holder in order to purchase the TIW card. THe cost is $75 for AP holders and $100 for Fl residents.

An AP holder would need to spend $375 to break even. A FL resident would need to spend $500 to break even.

Yes, plus the sales tax is on the discounted amt. not the prediscounted number. So a little more savings.

I forgot to add you get free valet parking when dining at a resort hotel and free parking at the Parks after 5 pm.

don't you get free parking at the parks anyway with the AP?

Yes...I think the park parking is more a perk for the FL residents (with no AP) but the free valet is a really nice perk for AP holders.

I Love TIW. We break even about five days into our first trip and that is with only 2 adults and 2 kids. The alcohol savings really adds up if you enjoy cocktails and it is accepted at several bars. Since we travel to disney more than once a year or stay for at least 10 days it is very worth it for us ( again only two adults) With the 40% off rooms usually with AP and the TIW dining discount we do really well. Also like not worrying about if we used up all our dining credits. For 5 to nine people on a trip I think it would lead to big savings if you were also gettin either a room discount or staying offsite.

I forgot to add you get free valet parking when dining at a resort hotel and free parking at the Parks after 5 pm.

That was a really big perk when we went in March!! We have 7 people in our party (4 kids of our own plus teenager brings a friend) so the 20% worked out REALLY well for us. DH and I liked that we can get it off alcohol too. AND the FREE valet parking was AWESOME!

thanks for posting the list, PP. I realized we can use it in Dec when we take DGS to Pop. I'm sure we won't be doing a lot of TS meals on that trip. :)

This may not apply to many since it is limited access, but the list also includes the Top of the World Lounge at Bay Lake Tower. We used our TIW there two weeks ago.

We love TIW! The dining plan doesn't work well for our family, just not a good value since we are not dessert eaters and I am a particularly picky eater due to my diabetes. We find it doesn't take long to "earn back" the price of the card.

But everyone has to do the math and figure out what works best for their family after consdering eating habits, etc.

Yes, I actually keep track until we make it up!! We saved about 200 for our Feb trip but had 6 adults so it more than paid for itself. We, too, are not dessert or even the included drink people. We usually just have water! It's actually a little more than 20% when you figure the savings on sales tax as well.

A good rule of thumb is if there is no table service at a given location, then the counter service will accept it. I.E. POFQ, Values, etc. Otherwise most table service accept it. Not all, but most. We broke even with a party of 4 in I think 5 meals. Just did a second trip on it where we stayed at POFQ and did a few TS, and have a third trip squeaking in on it as well. So it more than pays for itself. If you are eligible, and don't think the DDP is a good choice for you, then TiW is usually a great deal. The actual break even point depends on your normal tip amount. I look at is as a 17% discount instead of 20% since I normally only tip 15% for decent service. But that 17% still more than paid for itself.

With a party of 9, 1 meal at say Boma or other similar buffet almost breaks even if you have a drink or two. Otherwise your second meal would do it. I would say its a no brainer.

I looked a little closer at the list and it looks like two of the restaurants we hoped to eat at aren't on there....Teppan Edo and the new Hanienda San Angel.

I like the TIW plan better than the DDP.
The TIW paid for itself in 2 meals. Of course, we were a group of 10 adults.
The DDP sounds like it would force you to eat too much.
Just my $0.02.

I'm pretty sure they both are. Especially the Haciencda, which did not open until after that list was probably updated. I've not heard anything about either of them not being accepted.

We love the TIW card and it is only two of us - paid for itself in less than 4 days and everything else going forward is now gravy. And we love the valet parking (which I add into the ROI for the cost of the card - $10 a pop for the valet). And we don't even drink alcohol, so there's no extra savings for us from that and it is still worth it.

And to clarify, FL Res Seasonal Pass counts as an AP for TIW purposes. Cost for TIW is $75 for FLRSP holders as well, not $100 - which is the price only for Florida residents who do not have any pass at all.

Teppon Edo does not take TIW card, but you can get 10% AP discount there. This is what we did last month.
