Tables in Wonderland questions

We are thinking of purchasing the Tables in Wonderland plan. Normally my husband and I travel and dine together, but for several upcoming trips, I will be on business, needing a separate receipt, and at times my husband and I will be dining separately. I realize you can only use the TIW on one check, but can a husband and wife "share" an account? Or are we limited to just one of our names? In other words, if my name is on the account, but I am not present, would my husband still be able to use the program?

Also, TIW adds an automatic 18% gratuity. If a meal price already includes gratuity, such as CRT, do we end up paying gratuity twice, or is the cost adjusted for that situation?

If you purchase a single card you must be present. If you get 2 checks it will only apply to your check. However you may add a spouse to your card for $50 extra and he will get his own card.

Here is the info: http://allears.net/din/dde.htm

Also just saw where you can not use 2 cards at a table. So if you get 2 checks you will only be able to use it on one. That stinks.

We treated family to breakfast at Cape May. We were a party of seven and applied our TIW discount. We were charged only one 18% gratuity.

Although, if you are on business and needing a separate check, I assume you will be reimbursed for those meals? If so, just get him a card and use it on his check... who cares how much you're paying if you are getting reimbursed. No $50 extra, and no need to sit at different tables! :rotfl:

Does anybody know if the 2nd card for $50.00 must be for a spouse? We have 10 people going as a grand gathering, and my Dad is thinking about getting the TIW card. Could he get a 2nd card for me?

This may not be the appropriate forum for this question, but if the card gives a 20% and an 18% gratuity is added, does this result in only a 2% discount on the meal? I am not intending for this to be a tipping question, but if this is the only discount provided, it makes very little sense to get this card.:confused3

Yes, you are getting a 20% discount and 18% gratuity is added on to your bill. But, even if you did not have the 18% added on to your bill automatically...you would still need to leave a gratuity to your server. This 18% is taking the place of what you would have tipped on your own (of course you can leave additional gratuity if you see fit). So although your math is correct, it doesn't really apply to this situation. I hope that makes some sense, and helps. We have found the TIW to be a wonderful discount program. :flower3:

Thanks for all the thoughts about this program. Yes, I will be reimbursed for my business meals, (though I have to watch spending limits so the discount would have helped" but there are some other times I may travel without my husband, not for business, so we weren't sure about whose name to put on the card. It's kind of an odd policy, since it covers several people at the table, so you would think it would be a family discount. Most programs of this nature will allow "Mr. OR Mrs." Anyway...looks like it will be DH's name on the card! I don't know if we would use it enough to justify the extra $50 for a second card.

Wwhile there are all kinds of threads abpout the Dining Plan, I haven't seen much discussion about this program, so I appreciate the comments.

For us it makes sense because we would tip 20% and with the discount, we're tipping on a lower amount. Also, you can use the card at some CS in the resorts and AK.
