Hello,

We are thinking of getting the TIW card, but reading the recent benefits of it, it doesn't appear to be worth it.

Unless I am reading it incorrectly it doesn't appear I can't use it at many of the table service restaurants. for example Le Cellier

Can someone who has this card give me a little bit more information on it. From a previous thread I was all keen to get it but now I am not so sure.

Kirsten

Your link does not work so not sure what you are looking at but TIW affords members a 20% discount on food and beverages including alcohol as well as free valet parking at resorts for use for dining(gratuity not included) This is the most recent list of restaurants we always save money over the DDP by using TIW.

From AllEars.net
Benefits:

-- Members receive a 20% discount on all food and beverage (including alcohol) for up to 10 people at participating table-service Disney restaurants. Effective January 1, 2008 a charge of 18% gratuity will be added to all Tables in Wonderland table service transactions, regardless of party size. Effective March 1, 2009, at Victoria & Albert's, a 20% gratuity will be added to all transactions, regardless of party size.
-- Discount applies to member's check only.

-- You cannot use multiple cards for one check. For example, if you have a party of 14, you cannot use two TIW cards, unless you split your group into two smaller parties, each with its own check. Then each smaller group could use one card for a TIW discount.

-- Member must be present to receive discount.

-- Card must be presented when ordering.

-- Complimentary parking:

Theme Park: after 5 p.m. daily, show membership card at Guest Relations. You'll have to pay parking at the toll booth, then after dining, present receipt and parking ticket at Guest Relations for a refund.

Walt Disney World Resorts - when dining at a Walt Disney World resort, valet parking is complimentary. After dining, present a dining receipt at the valet stand.

-- Exclusive invitations to special dining events.

I believe your link is supposed to go to the Passholder Dining Discounts. This is dining discounts WITHOUT the TIW card available to AP holders.

Lovely thank you, I did wonder if I was reading it right. So it is still a good deal, I will talk to the hubby.

Thank you I knew I would get the help I needed.

The first question is, will you have an AP? If so, the TiW card will cost you $75. Second question is, how much do you normally tip? The TiW includes a mandatory 18% gratuity. So if you normally tip 18%, then no big deal. Personally I start my tips at 15% and then adjust as needed. As such, I may end up tipping 3% more than normal. So instead of the normal 20% discount, I view it as a 17% discount (20% discount - 3% additional tip). So my break even point was about $440 spent on food (75/.17). If you normally tip 18%, your break even point is about $375 spent on food (75/.2). Then look at the menus for the places you plan on eating, and see if you will spend that much on food/drinks while you are there. A party of 4 can easily spend those amounts in 4 or 5 meals. If you are staying at one of the locations where the CS takes it as well, you hit that point even sooner. During the last year we made 3 trips using a single TiW card. The first trip paid for the card, and the second and third were just free money. Especially since the 2nd and 3rd were at SSR and POFQ, where CS takes the card. If you are on property for a week, and plan on doing TS once a day with a party of 3/4, (or even 2 if you like apps and dessert as well) then it is well worth its cost.
