I've looked online but couldn't find an answer to this question.

I know as AP holders, we can purchase TiW as we have done it several times. But, can we purchase a new card as our APs are expiring and continue to use it into next year even if we don't have APs (probably won't get new ones until Fall)?

Thanks for any info you may offer!

You can purchase it as long as your AP is still valid. And the TiW card will be valid for at least 12 full months, even if your AP has expired and is not renewed.

Wow. I never knew that. That's great news! :thumbsup2

At one or two places, I thought I recalled having to show my AP when using the TIW card, but maybe I'm not remembering the situation correctly.

That's great! My AP is still valid until May 2011 and I think I won't renew right away, as we have only a 4 day trip planned in Sept. 2011 and I won't probably get the money's worth out of it then. But would be useful to have TIW, as there will be 4 other adults with us in Sept. incl. a dinner at V&A planned, so if I get a new TIW card on our stay in Jan. it would still be worth it.

Do you think I will be able to buy a new TIW card in Jan. if my current one is still valid until May?

When you think of it this way... you do not have to HAVE a AP to buy a TIW card. You just need the AP to get the TIW card for $75.00 instead of the regular $100. So why would the restaurant care how much you paid for the TIW card? I don't remember what other category of people can qualify for the card though.

I have a question that I can't find the answer to though. I already decided a TIW card is a must have for this upcoming trip next week. We are AP holders and DVC members. Can I buy the TIW card at SSR's check-in desk or do I have to get it at the Guest Relations office at DTD? Where else can I pick one up on our arrival day before we have dinner at Via Napoli?

Only FL Residents or AP holders can purchase TiW. You can purchase at any park guest relations, but don't think you can buy at resorts.

From Disney's web site "Walt Disney World Passholders receive $25 USD off the regular price of the Tables in Wonderland Membership"

From Dis web site.. "The price is $75.00 for an Annual Passholder, $50.00 for a second card. For a Florida Resident who is not an Annual/Seasonal Passholder, the cost is $100.00. It is $50.00 for lost/replacement cards."

So I guess you are right.. we always get one as an AP holder.. I didn't realize you couldn't get one at all if you didn't live in FL or be an AP holder.

I'm pretty sure TIW is only available to annual passholders and FL residents. AP pays $75 and Fl residents pay $100.

I just found out that TIW has some black-out dates. Thanksgiving day is one, and it isn't good for a Fantasmic dinner package. So 2 of our 5 ADR's I can't use it. I'm not sure it will be worth it for just 3 TS meals?:confused3 On the list of restaurants that take it. Flametree BBQ was there. They're QS. I didn't think it was good at QS. But its on the list. If we had the card, that's where we'd end up eating for lunch at AK instead of Rainforest, which doesn't take it. I wonder if the AP or DVC 10% discount will work for Fantasmic package and for Thanksgiving day?

Right, it doesn't work for packages or for Thanksgiving.

It does work for a few QS places:
Flametree and Pizzafari at AK
Food courts at all the values
Food court at POFQ
Food court at SSR (I think)

These are areas that don't have (or didn't have, when the TiW was introduced) TS restaurants.

I printed off the TIW list from allears.net. It does list both The Turf Club at Saratoga and the Artist's Palette. Since we'll be at SSR, that is rather convenient.

I studied the fine print (and boy was it small:eek:) on my AP booklet and the DVC Portable Perks paper and Thanksgiving is blacked out for both. So no getting a discount on Thanksgiving. :sad2: However, I didn't see anything about not being able to use those discounts for Fantasmic packages. We'll be eating at Mama Melrose.

PS: I love your Hanukkah smileys. Where did you get them?

Blocked out dates for TiW are New Year's Day, Easter Sunday, Mother's Day, 4th of July, Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve.

And it will not work with the Fantasmic! or Candlelight Processional Meal Packages.

Thanks Ches.

Do you know if I can use my AP or DVC discount for our Mama Melrose meal which is a Fantasmic package?

When we bought our TIW card two weeks ago, I noticed that it was actually good for 13 months - we purchased on 10/31/10 and our expiration date on the TIW card is 11/30/11. I am not sure if it was a mistake or the usual procedure. Either way, it was a nice surprise.
