Tables in Wonderland blacked out on Mother's Day?

We were considering in getting the TIW card as we are hosting a large dinner at 'Ohana. Unfortunately, it happens to be on Mother's day. I thought I read that this day is blacked out. Does this hold true for all resturants or is it more of a case by case basis? I am leaning towards not buying the card since the main reason I would use it is this dinner but I just wanted to double check how it works.

The TIW discount is supposed to be blacked out for all restaurants and lounges on its designated blackout dates. It is not on a case by case basis.

That may be, but I used the TIW card at Citrico's on Easter Sunday (one of the designated black out dates) and was given the discount.

They are not supposed to give you the discount on a blackout date. I would not plan to use it and get the discount on one of these dates. You might encounter the same situation as the previous poster but you might not - and if you joined TIW just for this one meal on Mother's Day you should consider that you are not supposed to be given a discount on that meal.

I will have to consider the options. It might be worth the gamble as it could be a large potentional of savings even if there is a really rare chance of getting to use it.

Thanks!

Consider also that you must spend about $375 before recouping the cost of the TIW card. If you are only really planning on using it for the one meal it probably isn't worth it anyway. If you eat multiple TS meals and/or visit multiple times per year you can easily hit that $375 mark.

We were in Disney two years ago for Mothers Day and They do not accept the TIW card on that day.....I believe it was also on CS places too.

Sorry....

Not only do they NOT accept the card on black out dates, they can add dates for which they will not take the card, without notice.

That has happened to us in the past. Given the shambles Disney Dining is now in (in part due to the DDP) we have not renewed our TIW card for the first time since the program began.

Easter Sunday was blacked out for me - I even told my server that but they tried anyway but the manager would not put it through.

I probably spend that much JUST on alcohol. :P

I guess they must have liked my kids or something. I completely forgot about the issue of Easter possibly being blacked out, so I gave the server the TIW card with my KTTW card for payment and they put the discount right through, no questions asked.

Not sure how large your party is, but TIW is only good for up to 10 people. Personally, I wouldn't take the gamble for just that one day. We loved having TIW, but I wouldn't buy it only to attempt a use on a blacked-out day.

Definitely blacked out. We tried to use it Mother's Day 2 yrs ago and I was told by the server that they don't take it on Mother's Day. He was apologetic about it. Can't hurt to try though, got nothing to lose.

We are having 30 people dine with us. I know it is only good for 10 people but even just for the 10 people we will reach the $375 breakeven point in one meal. I don't really expect to be able to use it but if I got there and saw another table using it I would be really annoyed!

If the only reason you want the membership is to use it for the Mother's Day party, I can't recommend that you get it on the off-chance that you'll be allowed to use it on a blackout date, no matter whether or not another party may end up with a less alert server or manager (managers are required to approve all TIW discounts. It is not likely that a manager who follows the rules will give you a break just because you have a large party). If you're going to make use of the membership on other occasions, then you might still be okay with purchasing one and trying it.

I have been turned down for using the card for a beer at Rose & Crown on the 4th of July (handed it over automatically without remembering it was a blackout day, and the bartender handed it right back) so I can't say you will get lucky or you won't. You have one person here who had the discount applied on a blackout date, all others state they have been denied.
