Hi sorry if this has been asked before. First dvc stay this September. I am planning to purchase tables in wonderland card and first visit not having the ddp. I was reading on the tables in wonderland website and it said the card used to pay for the meal must have the same name as the tables in wonderland card. I was planning to use the Disney gif cards to pay for all meals which obviously does not have a name on it. Will this be a problem? Thanks

We pay for as many meals with our Disney Rewards card as possible. we have also used gift cards without any problem. At times, I have been asked to show an ID, but that was rare.
As always, play with the numbers to see if a TIW is worth it for you. For us, most years it is ( we time it so we get 3 trips out of our APs and TIW cards). The year that the AP discount was 20%, the TIW card did not make sense. However, with your DVC discount, and depending on how many trips you plan to take, it may or may not be worth the money.

We will be getting 3 trips out of it so I think it will save a good bit. Thanks.

I mentioned ID because I have been asked for ID *every time*. Even when paying by CC (which is usual b/c we rarely set up room charging).
It always amazes me the variability of something that is supposed to always happen.

We had it this past year, with three trips and it was totally worth it. Made up the $150 fast.

I wouldn’t renew blindly though. Being that the only advantage to renewing is a plastic card, we’re waiting until closer to our next trip to do the math on DVC/AP discounts vs TiW for our specific reservations.

As others have said, you can do this.
But what we do is using our Magic Bands we charge everything back to our Villa account. Then I pay that bill with a gift card. It is easier and safer than carrying gift cards that can get lost

Great idea thanks!

Just make sure you stop at the front desk often to pay down your bill with gift cards, if your running balance gets too high, the front desk will automatically charge to your credit card on file. And don't forget to buy your TiW card with gift cards.

Can I use gift card and Disney rewards to pay for tiw card?

Can I use gift card and Disney rewards to pay for tiw card?

I want to make sure your question is clear. Are you asking if you can use 2 forms of payment to make the one purchase? So, example $100 on gift card & $75 with Disney reward card? This is a good question & one I don't have an exact answer for. I do know that when I went to GS to buy my AP (4 of them), I pulled out a stack of GC's that I had been collecting for awhile. The CM looked at me and said I was only allowed to use up to 3 forms of payment per transaction, my heart sank. Then she said the good news is all the GC's counted as one form. I smiled and handed her my stack.

So based on this, I'll say you should be able to use both for one transaction and this 'rule' may have changed since then so not sure what you'll find now for payment 'rules'.

I used nothing BUT gift cards for every single transaction in the parks, including the purchase of TiW. I am actually a fan of using gift cards in the park as I don't need to worry about going back to the front desk at the end of the night and deal with anything unexpected (I wish you can put down Disney gift cards for the front desk to charge from though).

After you are done with your trip, unless you have a trip within the few weeks after, be sure to call TiW right away and ask if you can get the plastic card version instead :)

FYI...Through disneygiftcard.com we can consolidate Disney gift cards now. Lowers the number of cards you have to have.

We purchased our TiW card last month using a Disney gift card. We frequently use a gift card to pay for the meal because it is really easy to hand them both the gift card and TiW card at the same time. I can't remember when I was ever asked to show my ID when using the TiW card, and we have had them for several years. We've been asked to show an ID when using the annual pass discount, though.

That's a good tip. I didn't know that they would issue a plastic card. The servers often have a lot of trouble swiping the paper card.
