We are going in May / June for 10 days. We will buy a Park Hopper. I show a cost $354.95.

There will be 7 of us. My wife and 3 kids and 2 friends of the kids. (17,17,14,14,12 only girl). God save us. My brother will also be down on his own SEPARATE vacation at the time. We will do our own thing but will spend time together with him (kids 5 and 2)

In order to purchase a TiW card, I need a AP at a cost of $552.74. This a difference of $197.79 PLUS $75 for the card. Total of $272.79.

By my calculations we would need to spend $1363.95 to break even for the card.

Little to no chance of return trip within the year of the AP.

Last trip we had a $522 dinner at California Grill for dinner (2 bottles of very good wine for our 20th Anniversary), $292 dinner at LeCeller and $275 dinner at Fultons. Those meals alone would cover or break even. This time we have one more kid and the possibility of my brother joining us for dinner on occasion.

What I missing. To me this seems a no brainer. Last time we spent over or right at $4000 on food for 11 days for 6 people. This trip is 7 people and maybe at times 9.

Have I done the math correctly.

Going in May, No DP since we are using Starwood Platinum points for the WDW Swan (yeaaaaaaah FREE ROOMS for 10 nights, 3 room suite) 4 teenage boys who never stop eating and my wife and I love the adult beverages.......alot. (remember 5 kids)

ADRS will include Lecellar, California Grill, Rose and Crown (there is that adult beverage thing again), Kona, Boma, Tutto, San Angel, Tokyo Dining, Yachts and Nine Dragons.

Thoughts ? advice appreciated.

If you're going to spend that much at participating restaurants, go for it! Sounds good to me.

Here is the info on it. It also includes the Value food courts, and (most? all of?) the counter service places at AK.

Yes, this is a no brainer. If you're planning on at least one table service meal per day, the TIW card will save you substantial money. With 7 people over 10 days, you would need to spend less than $20 per person per day. One meal is over that, not even counting beverages. (Even if you didn't plan a table service meal every day, you'd probably still come out ahead.)

Just be aware...having an annual pass may cause you to plan another trip in the next year to "get your money's work" on the pass. :)

If you are going to spend that much on table service restaurants on your one trip, and since the dining plan is not an option for you, then you can easily get your money's worth on the AP and TIW membership.

The only thing to remember is that you may not be able to split checks between parties. In general, all TIW discounted meals must be on one check. You may find some servers who will split the checks and apply the discount, but a lot of times you will not be able to have split checks.

When your brother is with you it looks like you will have a total of 10 guests. TIW can be applied to the cardholder plus up to 9 other guests. If you have any instances where you are with a party of more than 10, see if you can put the more expensive meals on the TIW check (if any of the party are young children ordering kids meals, make them the non-discounted meals.)

And remember free valet parking at any of the hotels including Boardwalk when you show them a dinner receipt...

■"Reimbursement for theme park parking when dining in a theme park restaurant. Note: Pay for parking at the toll booth. Present a valid dining receipt at the guest relations booth after dinner to receive a refund."

Oops your AP should handle parking but might cover a second car...and of course the 20% includes booze. Also, ask for the discount even if you doing cocktails before dinner in the lounge waiting for dinner.

Have fun...Ted

Based on your post, Original Poster, I think it would be somewhat criminal for you NOT to get the TiW card. :thumbsup2

Food and beverage costs add up quickly if you like to eat at the higher-end places. My wife and I did two adults-only trips last year and ended up not only covering the cost of the TiW card in total, but I believe we managed to fully cover the cost of one of our APs and part of another. I blame the wine. popcorn::
