Table Service To-go???

has anyone tried this recently? I've been trying to get an ADR for Sci-fi for our day in HS w/o success. I thought if I could get take out then we can go wait for Fantasmic while we eat.

Side note-How do you like the Yachtsman Steakhouse? Have you ever eaten at Concourse--I am trying to decide between the two. Gosh, I get so hungry when I am on this board...I can't imagine why....

Well, you'll have to stick with the Yachtsman because Concourse Steakhouse is now closed for good. :sad2:

I completely agree with the knowledgeable posters who explained how kitchen capacity could be adversely affected by unexpected surge in take out orders.

I would think that the resort restaurants already assume some number of take-out requests per meal -- because it seems logical that a guest returning to their room after a long day at the parks might decide to bop down for something other than what room service offers. But I would think that the in-park restaurants have less expectations of take-out requests. I am pretty sure that this topic has been brought up before and people have reported that when they asked at park locations, if it was a very busy time (at least sometimes) the CM at the podium politely declined.

I was able to do it this past June at Kona. I think it really depends on how busy it is. This was lunch time and the place was pretty empty. I have gotten dinner to go there quite a few times but that is before free dining.

I know you can do this at Kona's in the Poly because we always do it. Sometimes DD wan't a grilled cheese for lunch whiler we are poolside and Capt Cooks doesn't have them so I get them at Kona's. Sometimes I want to eat in the room and get it to go. You just have to go to the podium and order and they call you when it is ready.

Thanks for the tip! I will certainly be doing this on the upcoming trip!!

Take-out used to be very easy from the TS restaurants. In my experience, since the advent of the DDP, it has been difficult to impossible. I have not tried Kona, so perhaps that is an exception. I find I have to beg, beg, beg. Even then, I'm often told, "no". If I'm told yes, I'm expected to actually sit down at a table, order the meals I want and behave as if I'm wrapping up the leftovers. They are perfectly capable of doing take-out. They just don't want to. And, they want their waiters to get tipped. So, I always tip generously -- and I never use my Disney Dining Experience for a discount, even though I could. I don't like to rock the boat since it's so iffy as to whether they'll even tolerate my request or not.

Take-out -- another victim of the DDP, in my experience.

Hmmm, I wonder if they will still do this? Does anyone know if they will still do this at Le Cellier? I'm having no luck getting a lunch ressie for a tue afternoon in Nov. We wanted to try the prime rib sandwich, have heard it's fabulous from friends who recently came back! Maybe, we could get it to go and find a nice spot to eat outside, so we'd still get to try it even though we can't get in! Don't know if it would matter, we are on the ddp, just got free dining! :goodvibes
