Table Service Question- Sharing your Meal?

I have a question about dining (out of pocket). If we go to a table service restaurant (me, hubby and daughter who will be around six years old), can we order two entrees and split them among us three? Or one entree some appetizers and dessert and share among us three? I know my daughter would want to eat more of the adult meals instead of the kids meals but I can't see ordering her an adult entree of her own. Just wondering if they accomodate at the TS restaurants for this situation.

Thanks so much! :flower3:

Other than buffets where sharing with a non-paying adult is prohibited, you can dine in any manner you choose. If a restaurant wants to charge a minimum amount per person, or impose a "share plate" charge, it is free to do so. But the restaurant cannot dictate how your family dines OOP. You cannot split DP credits among adults who are all on the plan, but when paying OOP, all choices are yours. The servers may try to upsell you, as the more you order, the bigger their tip will be. But most servers appreciate that WDW serves very large portions and that the health trend in the U.S. militates in favor of sharing. Especially at lunch.

We were at WDW last week and had no problem splitting meals.
We ate at Tony's, Kona Cafe, Grand Floridian Cafe, Mama Melrose and many more and no one acted like it was odd to split an entree. Sometimes we would even order a salad to split also. When we ordered and said we were splitting, then when they brought it to our table it would already be split.
Very nice and like I said none of our waiters/waitresses acted like it was odd.
Very accommodating.

You can share meals at any TS restaurant where you order from a menu. The only exception that I can think of is if you order the family style Skillet at Whispering Canyon Cafe.

You cannot share at buffets, all you care to eat family style meals, CRT, dinner shows, Fantasmic or Candlelight Processional packages and the above mentioned Skillet at WCC. In all of these places every person three and older will be charged.

None of the restaurants that we ate at charged an extra plate fee. In the past I read that there were a couple, but I would believe that they were either at DTD or a non-Disney resort. Nor have we every had CMs try to upsell us anything.

Sharing is quite common at DW and servers are very accustomed to it.

My husband and I almost always share an appetizer, entree and dessert as it is the only way we'd have room to try it all! Unless one of us wants something the other really doesn't like, we share. As long as it isn't a buffet or family style or a character meal/show like the Luau or Hoop Dee Doo, there is no reason why you can't share. A great money saver and we don't walk around stuffed.
