where have you ate small apps, small entrees, small desserts?
Conversely; where have you encountered large apps, large entrees and large desserts?

I appreciate we all differing appetites-so I'm thinking generally speaking pooh:

Small desserts? Flying Fish comes to mind. Looks like an artist's canvas and tastes like a dream. None of that mo sugar is better taste I've noted at too many WDW eateries. We've had the following there:

Under the Sea
Valrhona Chocolate, Chocolate Coral Sponge, Pistachio Sand, Dehydrated Milk Foam, Tasting of Three Sea Salts

$12.00
Blueberries, Limes, and Sea Shells
Mascarpone Cream, Blueberry Lime Compote, Hibiscus Meringue, Rye Bourbon Caramel

$9.00
Panna "Carpa" - No Sugar Added and Gluten Friendly
Buttermilk Panna Cotta, Strawberry-Lime Consomme, Basil Sugar

$10.00

I think in general the signature restaurants have smaller portion sizes while the more family and comfort food oriented places have bigger portion sizes.

Tiffins is often called out as having particularly small portions though I don't know first hand. I feel like the overall portion size of the filet went down at le cellier from what I remember... the filet size itself was ok but it used to be served with a generous pile of risotto and now it was a half cup at most. I have also read that both Japanese restaurants in Epcot have portions on the smaller size.

Things with notoriously huge (shareable) portions are things like 50's prime time, yak and yeti, I found a liberty tree lunch pot roast to be a very large portion but it may be because they split it in the kitchen and added additional sides, I'm not sure... I'm sure there are more but I am just not thinking of them offhand.

For desserts specifically, the $6 'Ohana bread pudding at the tambu lounge is TREMENDOUS.

In general I think WDW portions on the large side for most things, probably so people don't revolt when they just paid what they paid for their meal.

I love your last sentence. :chat:

We are big fans of cheese plates and I have to say most of them we have had at WDW are on the small size. We do share them but that is usually because we are also getting some other appetizer we share. The one at Nomad Lounge is the exception, it's pretty big.

As far as big appetizers, I think the Cobb Salad at HBD is huge, I eat it as a meal. The French Onion Soup at Chefs De France is also huge. We always share dessert so I have to say I can't think of one that is too small. I don't think I'd be able to eat the hummus sampler at Spice Road Tables by myself, we usually get two small plates from there and share.

As far as Tiffins goes, we find the portions there are plenty, we rarely finish any one thing we get there but we do get appetizers, entre and dessert. We share the appetizer and the dessert and have been known to add an extra vegetable to share but not always.

Spice Road Table in Morocco in Epcot is a small plate restaurant.
If I can persuade the kids to eat here on our next trip (they are fine with the idea of Marrakesh) that'll be good.
If not, the adults will wait for our child less trip.

I read lots of complaints about small portions at many of the WDW restaurants. Obviously we don't eat as much as some as most of the portion sizes seem appropriate. Tiffins comes to mind. We have never walked out of there hungry, but I read many posts about the small portions.
Spice Road does have small plates available.
I consider LTT to have large portions as its family style.

Tiffins definitely has small portions! We have no plans to pay those prices again for what we received. Dh & I aren't big eaters and are on the small size, and we walked out of there not satisfied. The food was very good, but not outstanding at all.

We find most portions at Disney to be satisfactory, but definitely not huge. We tend not to get appetizers or desserts and drink only water. When people tend to get those they eat less in the form of the entree, then look on them as large. To each their own.

We tend to eat our main meal of the day for dinner at signature restaurants. We also tend to eat very light (no bread or share one pastry or bagel between 3 to 4 people) continental style breakfasts. Kiddos are allowed one sweetened drink per day (See that? We're on vacation, LOL) and like adults, drink cold water or unsweetened iced tea the rest of the time. Lunch is based on whether anyone is hungry OR if Noonie wants the corn soup at Brown Derby- hehehe. All bets are off when we are at Epcot when our eyes are frequently bigger than our stomachs.
With that being said an appetizer, entree, and possible dessert works well for our way of life and I rarely think about the size of the courses.

Are you wanting small portions or larger portions? In general my DH and I find the portions at the vast majority of WDW restaurants to be very large. We don't like to feel "full" when we are touring the parks and climbing in and out of ride vehicles so we prefer to share appetizers or split an entree at most places. We like Tutto Gusto Wine Cellar because of their shareable plates and Spice Road table has appetizers that are perfect for sharing (we also split the vegetable platter). If you are there during Food and Wine or Flower and Garden then the items at the booths are perfect for sharing. Many are smaller sized portions but if you share you can try more of them.

Oh!! Thanks for this. Going to Flying Fish in a few days. Now I will be dreaming about these deserts!

Kind of a combo of both so dh doesn't overeat!
My strategy is to (hopefully) have one lighter-the next more filling etc.
Without being stuffed!!

If it's there and available he will often eat it all..I think it's the result of being the youngest of 5 :rolleyes1
Whereas I could quite happily just snack all day long and/or eat kids meals

Dh would never share a meal; but happily have a bit of dds if they were eating different dishes (assuming she would permit this!!)
